New Roads and Secret Gates  by Citrine 3 Review(s)
Jay of LasgalenReviewed Chapter: 3 on 9/24/2005
Poor, innocent Sméagol, so upset about his missing cousin - but Granny suspects the truth. (Is this the grandmother he taught to suck eggses?)

Love the ending with Sméagol smiling in his sleep - very chilling.

Author Reply: Yep, the very same:o) I've always been kind of fascinated by Smeagol's Granny. She had to have been one tough, sharp-minded old cookie to be head of her particular branch of Stoors (or maybe proto-Stoors.) And yet it seemed in the book like it was a long, long time before Smeagol/Gollum was finally driven away. I've always wondered how much she knew, or guessed, or if the idea of one hobbit murdering another was just beyond her understanding. And wow, listen to me run on. Thanks so much for reading this.

Oh creepy, Citrine, very creepy. And they do say love is blind!

Ooh, very, very well done. At first he's a lost lamb, yet to prove the sneak, thief, spy, and at last accepted as murderer.

Well done indeed.
