| Thanks for linking me to this! I like how Pippin tries to cheer Frodo up and yet is also affected by his memories. It's always good to see a moment between Frodo and Pippin. My favorite part was the image Frodo has of Pippin in the first part, of Pippin as the Thain. Frodo has so many visions in the book so it makes perfect sense that he would have one of Pippin too. | Frodo was too touched to say anything. He had never heard the Elvish phrase before, and it was flattering that it came out of Pippin’s mouth, since Pippin knew almost no Elvish. The heaviness in his heart lifted a bit, for he felt indeed quite fortunate to still be among those that he loved. How lovely. Pippin is such a wonderful blend of young, spirited hobbit lad and older, wiser advisor. What a perfect visitor for Frodo on this New Year's day.
