I have only just found and read your story...I am not sure I have the
words. If only this was the way Prof Tolkin could have ended things for
our beloved hobbit. This is so very beautiful.
Thank you so much for sharing this.

Author Reply: And I have only just found this review! Thank you so much! This was the tale that got me started writing fanfic. It could probably use a good editing *blush* since it was my first, but your enthusiasm for it is much appreciated.

It is long that I spent a whole evening reading fanfiction instead of writing it. But, as I have read your latest story which has touched me deeply, I somehow felt an urge to read this one as well. And I was not disappointed.

This was so heartbreakingly beautiful. I'm so happy Mae returned to tell him about her reasons and about his son. At least Frodo knows about him even though he cannot live with him.

Well, this was one of the stories I kept with me for so many years and while the style might be a bit primative, the sentiment is very genuine. I like any tale that gives Frodo some happiness in life (especially, if I can put myself in the place of the one giving it!) and this was one way I thought of that would work within the confines of canon and still get some of those lovely Baggins' genes into the next generations of M-e. *Sigh* He's just too good to lose completely.

*snif* oh my, my heart is breaking. This is an incredible story. Truly remarkable! I almost got angry with you at the end. It seemed like you were going to give them the ending they deserved, and then you ripped their happiness away, but I forgive you. It's very touching. I don't know what else I can say about this. I am at a loss for words...*shakes head in wonder*

On a different note, I just realized you also wrote "Fear". Any chance of an update on that soon?

Author Reply: Awww! Thanks! Praising this fic is like complimenting my first child! ;) Always earns brownie points. :D I have had people complain about that several times but I am a slave to canon and if Frodo had not gone into the West, it would not have fit in with the story. My challenge was to give Frodo a son, believably and in canon, and I hope I have done that at least as credibly as most others could.

As for Fear, I have half the next chapter written and when I get more than a second to work on it, I will finish the rest. RL is beating me down but I write in any spare second I have.

What a great story! I don't think a story except for the trilogy has ever brought so easily to tears! I almost cried throughout the entire last chapter and you should take that as a compliment. Very well written. Truly a great story. I enjoyed myself a lot. Thanks for sharing!

LOL! OK... praise an author's first work and you KNOW you are going to please her.

I've had this story in my head for nearly 20 years. I always felt the greatest tragedy of the story was that neither Bilbo nor Frodo, the two best hobbits in the Shire, ever had an heir. I had to somehow leave a part of those wonderful hobbits unspoiled in M-e somewhere. One day I will write the fic where Aragorn sees Elan... in a crowd, but close enough to recognize him... The story in my mind's eye brings me to tears just thinking about it. I hope it will have the same effect on you.

That was a beautiful story!

Thank you! I always try to read other folks' OFCs but I am aware they are not everyone's cup of tea. Thank you for reading and liking this one enough to write a review. This was my first LOTR fanfic (having written in other fandoms for many years) and it answers the greatest desire I ever had for Frodo - that if he had to leave, then he not leave M-e bereft of even some little part of him...
