Shadowed Rain  by Garnet Took 4 Review(s)
LindeleaReviewed Chapter: 1 on 11/14/2005
Another excellent story! What a lovely lunch break this has been. And now, back to the grind... But first...

Pippin was bored, not to mention uncomfortable. He hated being stuck indoors, but, now, his old injuries ached too. He found pacing the room tiring but sitting too much caused his joints to grow stiff.
(Ouch. I sympathise. And we get days and days in a row of rain in winter, too.)

In his haste and frustration, he never noticed that Merry had been holding his book in his lap and turning the pages with his left hand.
(Uh-oh.)

This has nothing to do with the fact that tomorrow is the 15th.
(Hmmm.)

I needed you there to keep me tied to this world when the world of dream-shadows seemed so much more real.
(Nicely put.)

You have drawn a nice picture of a slice in time. I have the vague memory of reviewing this at the Challenge site, but if I didn't, I wanted to take the time here to say, "Well done."

Author Reply: Oh, thank you so much. Sorry I've been slow to reply. The last couple of weeks have been a little odd around here.

I could certainly sympathize with Pippin last Tuesday. The weather around here changed so fast that anyone with an old hurt had to at least a little uncomfortable.

I'm glad you liked this story. It's one of those I feel unsure about. I never dreamed I'd write one like this, but here it is. It's not a subject I think much on and was a little sure how to make believable, but I'm glad it has got some favorable feedback.

Good old Merry trying to be the martyr and take the pain needlessly. It's a good thing Pippin figured things out when he did. :-) And it's a good thing Merry listened! Thanks for sharing!

Author Reply: Thank you for reading. Martr--thats a good word for Merry. He is that way so ofter. I think that's why he has Pippin around; so that he doesn't have to dwell on things and suffer alone.

Yes, that is the need here--to be there for one another.

Author Reply: Yes, and that's what they're good at--being there for each other. Thank you for reading and taking the time to comment.

'I need you here to keep me tied to this world'. Lovely Garnet.

Author Reply: Thanks, Harrowcat. They do manage to keep each other grounded. Thank goodness.:)
