Pearl's Pearls  by Pearl Took 11 Review(s)
ArmarielReviewed Chapter: 8 on 5/28/2006
Enchanting.......well, some friends of mine interrupted me while reading it and I grabbed it in bits and pieces...but still I think I grasped it all LOL At the risk of repeating myself and growing tiresome I must say your versatility is astonishing.....brilliant! I may be up all night reading....but really should get to bed...heheh

Author Reply: I'm enjoying your repetition. *smiling and blushing*

Thank you so much, Armariel, for the marathon read :)

Lovely ficlet! I see why it was a Marigold Pic. I've heard music is the universal language. You certainly brought that back to my mind.

I especially liked (well, BESIDES my favorite part which would be Pip singing), I especially liked the introduction via Galadrie's mind's eye.

Author Reply: Thank you, Rach! I've always loved that even vocal music in a language you don't speak can still stir your emotions. Thank you for liking it being Galadriel's point of view :)

This is beautiful Pearl. Music is truly the universal language.

Author Reply: Thank you, harrowcat :) I have always felt that way.

Most beautiful, Pearl! Music and song have always been the universal language, and I love it. I LOVE the idea of Pippin and Cullassisul making music together, singing unspoken words that come directly from the heart. I loved listening to them. Nothing else needs to be said. Beautiful. :-)

Author Reply: Thank you, Pippinfan :) Thank you so much. Few give me as much encouragement as you do, both in replies to stories and in chats. I'm glad you enjoy my tales :)

I always love it when you mention Cullassisul in one of your tales. I'm rather attached to the particular OC of yours. This was lovely. I enjoyed the way that Pippin and the young elf managed to speak to one another. Another wonderful story!

Author Reply: aw, thank you so very much, GW! I still often wonder if she came across well, so this is so good to hear :) You've done my heart good, thank you :) :)

Oh, such a wonderful communion between Hobbit and Elf maiden.

Author Reply: Thank you, Larner :) Thank you for reading and commenting :) Music crosses many barriers.

BodkinReviewed Chapter: 8 on 1/21/2006
I love the image that came to me of Galadriel as a kind of benevolent, all-seeing nanny overlooking the Wood and its environs.

And trust Pippin to find singing a way to communicate with someone whose language he does not share. Very touching.

Author Reply: Thank you Bodkin :)

Yes, Galadriel keeps a good watch over her lands :) I do think that at least the Pippin most of us now have in our heads, due in large part to Billy, might think to sing when he doesn't have words to say. :)

thank you so much :) :)

I really enjoyed this, Pearl! I love how they manage to communicate through music, and how Galadriel sees a bit of Elvishness in Pippin, and how Pippin sometimes can understand the Elves more than he thinks he should. So much to love here!

Author Reply: Thank you, ST :)

Tolkien makes much of the "differentness" of Frodo, but he also mentions that the Tooks as a whole are unusual, it being part of why he chooses Bilbo to be a burgler. I've had fun exploring that aspect of Tookishness :)

DreamflowerReviewed Chapter: 8 on 1/20/2006
This is so beautiful! I love that Pippin expresses himself with music, when he can think of nothing to say, and that she responds.

And I love the way Galadriel is watching over her guests, helping them to recover from their weariness and grief. This is just lovely beyond words!!

Author Reply: Thank you, Dreamflower :) I just felt it was something she would do. She comes across as a caring person despite being somewhat scarey.

Oh, Pearl! What a beautiful way for Pippin and the Elf to communicate! This is just magical.

Author Reply: Thank you, shirebound :) It is one of the things I like best about music.
