Pearl's Pearls  by Pearl Took 6 Review(s)
PrimsongReviewed Chapter: 27 on 2/20/2007
I *loved* the conversation with the badger in this one, and the comparisons between the two. Wonderfully done, and bittersweet too with his memories of dear Gandalf being caught in the results of his own moment of foolishness. Thank you, Pearl. - Prim

Author Reply: You're welcome, Prim, and thank you for reading and responding. Stories like this are why I love doing challenges - the neatest things can come out of them. I'm glad you enjoyed this :-)

O how sad!

Very powerfully written.

*hugs*

Author Reply: Thank you so much, Lin! And for the hugs as well, I'll take all of those I can get :)

And always the Ring loves to see others take on the burden of guilt, something those born to be responsible tend to do too often as it is.

Well written, Pearl.

Author Reply: Thank you, Larner. Yes, the Ring gets at everyone anyway it can and a soft hearted hobbit would be vulnerable indeed at a time like that.

Wow, Pearl, that was amazing - the last few lines really hit you like a punch to the gut. Nicely done!

Author Reply: Thank you, SS! A "Wow" is a wonderful compliment. I'm so glad the last lines worked so well :-)

Very nightmarish. Poor Pippin - this must have been about his lowest point and his greatest feeling of guilt. Well - until Amon Hen, anyway. And at least Gandalf came back. Very spooky.

Author Reply: Thank you, Bodkin! Yes, I figure Gandalf's fall and the palantir incident have to be two of his worst moments for regret over his own actions. Amon Hen at least wasn't just him as he and Merry both took off running, but helplessly watching Boromir get shot full of arrows had to be a hideous thing as well, knowing he had shown up just to help them. I loved how they did that in the movies, at first they're so stunned they can't even move.

I must have missed this one while off line with my internet troubles. This really gets into Pippin's head. It just seems like what he must have been thinking at that point. Excellent as always.

Author Reply: Thank you, GW!
I hope your computer troubles are over. That has to be a major drag :-( Thank you for saying that it does well with getting into Pippin's head!
