Pearl's Pearls  by Pearl Took 5 Review(s)

Hmmm, now they'll have *three*, lol! I like to imagine that both couples had lots of children. I mean, what else was there to do in the winter?? :-P

You know how much I love the part of Merry waking up pregnant, lol. That was excellent! Kind of makes me hungry for strawberries and onions. ;-)

I truly enjoyed the chain of events/personas that brought Merry back to his senses, and in more than one fashion, so to speak. I absolutely love dream-tales, and I believe the Professor made great use of them in his epic tale.

I like Dreamflower's suggestion...unless I missed something, they all seemed as if they could be the same gold locket. Maybe Jeb or Other...? ;-)

Thank you so very much for the most excellent story! I wasn't easy on you, and I think you did a magnificent job in spite of me, lol!

Author Reply: Hugs and thanks m'dear Pippinfan!

There wasn't much else to do in the winter ;-) I also like to think that both couples had nice sized families.

I am so glad you like dream-tales, I was a bit concerned about that after I wrote it, seeing as they do get strange sometimes.

Who knows? We'll have to see if anything develops. ;-)

You are so welcome, my dear friend. I was so happy to do a story especially for you and I am so very glad you like it! :-)

Pearl, this was very different, and wonderfully so! I don't know how you come up with some of these original ideas, but I'm so glad you do. I love the eerie feeling this story invokes all the way through, and the way you connected the life, birth, death theme, and most of all the love. The descriptions were vivid and I could easily picture each character. Heh, it kind of reminded me of that old show "Quantum Leap" when Merry woke up as the pregnant lass!!
Loved Pippin's cheekiness and his teasing words to Merry!

I bet Pippinfan was very pleased with her tale, I know I certainly am!

I'm glad you liked its differentness!

One of my favorite quotes is from Stephen King. Talking about the rock band he is in, comprised mostly of fellow authors, he said, "We never ask each other where we get our ideas; we know we don't know." ;-)

When she first read it, Pippinfan also mentioned that it reminded her of "Quantum Leap". It didn't inspire it though, unless extremely sub-consciously.

I'm glad the love showed through as that was what I really wanted the most.

Ah, how wonderful--and horrible!--to be caught momentarily in all those bodies, no matter how briefly; and to have at last the words of farewell he'd needed from his own father.

Clever and a bit frightening!

Author Reply: Thank you Larner :-)

I think that would be terribly frightening, although I was glad the last one was comforting as well. I think it would be very hard to have not said a proper goodbye.

Thank you :-)

oops! Accidentally sent before I was finished!

I really liked the way you worked your way down the family tree--and the connection of the locket, and of Yule, and of death/birth as a theme. Was it the convergence of these events with First Yule that caused Merry's experience?

And I wonder if that locket might still be around in Jeb and Other's time? *hint*hint*

Author Reply: Well . . .

It wasn't necessarily meant to be the same locket, just that the other times had involved a gold locket and Frist Yule together, so I've mucked up there and not been clear.

Thank you for responding Dreamflower :-)

What a nice little "time-travel" mystery! Perhaps that mysterious locket will be seen again someday.
