| This was such a fun story! I have been reading Shirebound's stories, and she sent me the link to this. :-) I absolutely loved Sam's costume -- of course he's an oliphaunt, why would he be anything else? | so cute! my favorite part is Sam dressing up as an oliphaunt-- but would Sam know how it looked like at that point when he's still a hobbit-lad? ;) :P Author Reply: Of COURSE Sam would know! Remember the Shire rhyme, "Big as a house, grey as a mouse..."? (Or is it the other way around?). I think oliphauts were a part of Shire lore, and even if he didn't know exactly how they looked, Sam probably had a good idea...perhaps from the books Bilbo might have let him borrow :) Thanks for reading! | |
