Oooh! The plot is thickening. Now there's a storm, and it's one of those uncomfortable tropical ones. I can just picture Pippin having a puppy named Mop. How cute! Wonder if they're in the same place that Frodo and Bilbo found the knife. Sam telling Frodo a story to keep him occupied was so perfectly Sam. Wonderful job with this chapter. I look forward to more. Author Reply: They aren't in the same place, but that isn't important ^^ I adore puppies with hobbits, which has nothing to do with my own little Mop running around the kitchen right now, barking at the broom. Nothing at all. Uncomfortable storms can be caused by uncomfortable things! Bwah hah. Thank you for reviewing, you've made my night.

Ok, I've finally read this! It's a good start, though I think you jump from one thing to another too quickly, before you can really establish what is going on. At least, it felt a bit rushed. The dialogue is great and I love your Frodo here. The knife seems ominous and I get the feeling that Frodo falling on it wasn't an accident. So, Frodo asks a lot of questions, as does Pippin. Must be a Tookish trait. ~_^ Author Reply: Expanding is one of my many problems, I'm afraid. I'm working on it. It seems rushed to me too, but I became tried of rewriting it so I just let it go. Hopefully it's not something that will continue through the rest of the story, but if it does I wouldn't be surprised. Hopefully it will remedy itself in time ^^ Thank you! I take characterization seriously, and try to do justice to who I think Frodo is and why. Tookish, Brandybuckish, and Bagginish traits included!

Well, compared to the Gaffer's grammar Sam's is excellent ;-) I just love it when old Hamfast speaks this way, it's really authetic! As far as I can see, the only element that connects the two stories by now, is the thunderstorm. It is the same thunderstorm, isn't it? I'm curious to see what will come next! BTW: Your little Sammie is great :) Author Reply: Thank you! I love Sam, It's so much fun to imagine him as a wee one. I was hoping my Gaffer's grasp on English wouldn't seem silly. Sam's been taking lessons with the gentry, whereas Hamfast would rather have him in a garden. Their differences come out in their language. At least that's my story ^^ It is the same storm, yes. Perhaps the storm is slightly supernatural, eh? I'm horrible when it comes to review responses. Thank you so much for reviewing!

I'm so curious to see where you're going with this, and how the two stories will converge! Awwww, your Sam is so cute and well mannered. What a sweet lad. Author Reply: Thank you! I'm now worried the ending is not going to make sense. The stories converge. Very much related. Or something like that. I love little Sam, so I just had to put him in somewhere. What's a story about hobbits when you don't have all of the main four? Well, probably a good story, depending on whether or not the author can write, but then it's arguable they aren't an author! Whew, I just made my head spin. Thanks for the review! I'm much enjoying "Whispers of a Dragon", I'm just much too lazy to know what to say in response.

Rated for "some blood" you said? Well, there it is, right in the first chapter! And it's always Frodo, poor lad! That knife seems to be very mysterious. And Bilbo was extremely nervous about it. He knows more than he has said so far. I'm really curious, what will happen next! Author Reply: I tried my very best not to go into details! Perhaps I should have said "blood" wihout the "some" ^^ That's the thing, Bilbo doesn't know! It gives off bad vibes, really, and Bilbo seems more perceptive to them then Frodo, though Gandalf does know more then he lets on. He never does let on though, so we get left in the dark on that one. What's Gandalf without a bit of mystery? I'll hopefully have the next chapter up in a week! Thanks for reading, that makes me happier then I let on. Mostly because I don't want to sound like a squeeing idiot...

You have nothing to worry about. ^_^ I think I've made it sufficiently clear elsewhere that I <3 your story. FFN should institute this system of author replies, shouldn't they? Author Reply: Yay! My almighty beta! *bows* Yes, you have. And as I have made sufficiently clear elsewhere I am a twit with a sensitive ego XD They so should!

Indeed--why is it always Frodo? Interesting beginning here. Author Reply: The poor hobbit just never gets a break! Thanks :)

Oh my, how suspenseful! I'm so curious to know what that knife is all about, and what will happen. This is a great beginning, HobbitWaffle! Author Reply: Thanks! I'm more than a little nervous, and I hope it lives up to expectations.

Oh dear. It's a good thing that Gandalf is there. Something about that knife seems decidedly dodgy. I hope Frodo's not too badly hurt. Author Reply: Dodgy indeed. We shall see, won't we? Thanks for the review!
