That was... Terrifying.

Tol Eressea - I wonder what it looks like?

Ah--directed imagery--and necessary, perhaps, for both Merry and Frodo? Sweet Merry and sweeter Pippin, helping in the necessary moment.

Author Reply: It was certainly necessary for Merry, at least. Thanks for reading. :)

great story! I enjoy a bit of Merry-angst - it's rare to see it so well done!

Author Reply: Thank you very much. I appreciate the kind words. :)

Wow, auntiemeesh. That was awesome. I love how Pippin got Merry to turn the dream around, and just how close they are. Very moving and beautiful. Thank you for sharing with us! :)

Author Reply: Thank you very much for taking the time to read it! :)

I love this. Decided to read twice and then leave a review. =) I'm glad you're continuing with the "Courage" verse for "Courage" (as you already know) is one of my all-time favorite stories.
ANd you made me addicted to Merry angst ... This story is so awesome.

"Don’t even try to tell me nothing is wrong, Merry. Your arm is sore, isn’t it? When was the last time it ached like this? Cormallen? Minas Tirith? What are you planning to do? Ignore the Shadow until you are so exhausted and ill that it claims you? If you think for even one minute that I’ll sit by and allow that to happen you’re even more stupid than I took you for."
I love Pippin in charge and taking care of Merry... Pippin does have to knock some sense into Merry, doesn't he? =)

"Whatever it is, you can tell me. You have to tell someone, you know. If you ever want to sleep again you’re going to have to deal with this."
aww i'm glad that Pippin's there for Merry... so glad.

And what a dream... very nice description there and it's true that no one is entirely certain of what going to Valinor might bring yet as Pippin said, we must have faith upon Gandcalf and Elrond that it would be pieace and healing fro Frodo.

Lovely ending with Merry being able to turn the dream around and make it a good dream and not a nightmare.

Will there be more? 0=)

Author Reply: Thanks. :)

I actually wrote this ages ago, posted it on my lj and then forgot all about it. I just came across it this weekend when I realized I hadn't posted anything here in months, lol.

Will there be more? 0=)

As someone pointed out earlier, this is sort of a prequel to the WIP I've got going on at lj right now, although I hadn't really thought of it that way. Every now and again, I just get compelled to return to the 'Courage' verse and want to play with Merry or Pippin a bit.

This is so beautiful. The spring anniversary right after Frodo left must have been incredibly painful for those whom he had left behind.

And for Merry--well, his fear and his dream are so much what he *would* think of--to worry over whether Frodo would find healing or even survive the trip there must have ever been in the back of his mind. Thank goodness Pippin was able to gvie him a way to overcome those fears and turn the nightmare back on itself.

Wonderful job!

Author Reply: Thanks. Merry worries so much about everyone, it must nearly kill him at times that he *can't* know for certain that Frodo is safe and well. :)

This is brilliant Auntiemeesh! And such an assertive Pippin is good to see.

Author Reply: Thanks! I like to see Pippin being strong and getting the chance to be the caretaker. :)

Oh! Is this a prequel to that one on your LJ? *Reads eagerly* This is a great idea and I am really enjoying the story!

Author Reply: Well, I guess it could be considered a prequel to the WIP I've got going on over at lj, although I consider it more of a follow-up to "A New Kind of Courage" in which Merry's nightmares are first introduced.

I'm glad you're enjoying this. :)
