What a stunning account of doom of Aegnor! This fated love story is one of Tolkien's most poignant, in my opinion. I loved the characters - if not all of Angrod's reasoning - from the first I read Athrabeth Finrod ah Andreth. You have written a very fitting conclusion - though I still hold out hope for Finrod's final words in his discussion with Andreth: "But you are not for Arda. Whither you go may you find light. Await us there, my brother - and me. " Beautiful work!

This is one of my favorite couples. It is so sad, but I like it that way. In your story you have clearly illustraded how Aegnor felt when his death was nigh on him in the Dagor Bragollach. History might have been different if Aegnor had had the courage to wed Andreth. But who now knows...? You have done an amazing job writing about two characters that had an even sadder fate(at least in my opinion) than Beren and Luthien who had time to be with each other and evantually Luthien becomes mortal and followed him. Wow. I think the word "wow" has been overused, but in this context please consider it as though it's just been introduced to the English language and is still fresh, vibrant and undiluted. Wondrously excellent depiction of battle and of that iffy, hard-to-do supernatural bit at the end (so many have attempted and fallen short into the ever-waiting vats of cheesiness that lurk below). I don't know if I've ever read a ficlet quite like this before, which is odd, because I've certainly read stuff with this same basic plot. I think you add a unique flavor to it (aside from the fact that this is one of the only GOOD fics of its kind that I've seen in a while). Good work and keep it up!

wow! That was so powerful. Very well written. Very well done. Your descriptions of him and his selfless love for her and his nobility were so wonderful. And her pain at the end was so very sad. Wow... Well done.

I first read Athrabeth Finrod ah Andreth five years ago and fell in love with it. You have brought the tragedy of Aegnor and Andreth to life in this tale. Thank you very much indeed. Alassiel
