Love Letters  by Antane 4 Review(s)
LarnerReviewed Chapter: 17 on 2/23/2006
Losing family is indeed difficult at any age. Am so glad that both were supported through this and hope each found the healing of the rift swift and sure.

I had wondered when this chapter would come Antane. Nice balance to it. Your comment about Sam having one less thing to leave echoed one of Larner's tales in my mind. Faramir comments that he doesn't envy Aragorn's longer life because he has to lose so many friends. Aragorn reminds him that he will also have so many to great when he arrives.

I was on the verge to tears on this one. Bilbo's gone and the Gaffer's gone. Poor Frodo and Sam, but it's good to know they were there when their loved ones drew their last breaths.

Oh, this made me cry. To think of dear Bilbo gone! And Sam's poor old Gaffer, so rough round the edges but hiding a tender heart, as I like to imagine him. I feel like I keep repeating myself, but I'll say it again: extremely poignant and beautiful

(Just as a side note, Marigold was already married by this time, but I imagine she and Tom Cotton might have lived at Number Three to take care of the Gaffer.)
God bless,
Galadriel
