| The one foreseeing Frodo leaving before the next Yule was, of course, the most heartrending; and the pain of too much happiness is one I've felt at times. Love this. Author Reply: Thanks Larner. I think that Merry would have known Frodo well enough to read the signs and know that he was intending to leave on his Adventure soon, even though none of them knew yet about the true nature of his ring.
