Ten Thousand Years Will Not Suffice  by Agape4Gondor 3 Review(s)

Too terrible a loss to need to serve to bring father and son back together, but at least it has accomplished that. I grieve for the time lost, however, and honor Indis the more for her courage. And at last she's learned of the gift of irises he'd intended for her!

Author Reply: Those dear irises grew out of an incident with my son. He and a buddy found a patch in a local park and brought a bunch for planting home to me.... thankfully, the park police didn't see them... and it was too late to send them back! BUT - the boy got a serious talking to!!!!

We will see the irises a few times - they were important to Denethor.... *sobs*

AND I was so proud of Indis!

Bless you for your comments!

Happened across this story this morning - you're doing a very nice job of showing that Denethor likely started out as quite a nice young man, but boy his relationship with his father is twisted.

Author Reply: Hello SS - I cannot believe I never saw this comment - and especially that I didn't respond to it! Shame on me! And thank you.

Just an FYI - the tale is done now - only about 7 years later - a short epilogue will be posted within the next few days....

Bless you - and hoping that now this is done I can go back and read about a favorite 'healer' and her exploits!

Well, that's the Steward's family all over. It takes a brutal death to get them to confront festering feelings and resentments towards each other. Good for Indis for finally intervening in this mess. Ecthelion behaved like an ass, and I hope that he figures it out soon.

It will be interesting to see how Denethor overcomes his revulsion towards Curunir to develop the friendship they seem to have later on.

Author Reply: Hi, French Pony,

I'm interested to know where you got the impression that Denethor and Curunir were friends. I had come away (from reading the books) with the impression that Denethor didn't trust any wizard?

I'm glad myself that Indis finally chose to confront Ecthelion!
