Peregrin and Diamond  by Pearl Took 6 Review(s)
AspenJulesReviewed Chapter: 6 on 7/20/2006
Oh, and whatever *could* he have in mind for Diamond? She really should be aware of his reputation and be somewhat afraid, LOL.

Sounds like he's gained some good accomplices in Topaz and Aster now, though, LOL!

Author Reply: Read on and find out ;)

Oh that wicked Pippin!! He did a wonderful job on those two girls, though, especially Aster, teaching her a good lesson before moving on to some not-so-good lessons, LOL (at least for the two younger brothers!) What a treat for them to learn from the master of pranks!

I'm glad Isengrim is approving. It's fun to see how openly they discuss Pip's attraction to her. No game-playing here. Oh, and I really like your Pippin... he's masterful and vulnerable all at the same time. Oh, I'm liking this!

Author Reply: Thank you, AspenJules, for liking my Pippin :) :) You've made my day :) He's always willing to help out in anyway he can ;)

I don't know that Aster and Topaz need any coaching in misbehaviour! They seem full enough of mischief as it is.

Pippin might be accustomed to working at harvest time - but I suspect he's a bit out of practice, especially if he's just spent a week in bed! And sword training probably uses entirely different muscles.

He wants to invite Diamond to partner him, does he? He might have his work cut out to convince her - her self-confidence is not her strong point, and she is bound to see the negative side of the attention. While at the same time really wanting to spend time at his side. Still. Pippin has plenty of Took charm, together with a kind heart and an unexpected streak of practicality.

Author Reply: Their skills just needed some refining :)

I'm sorry for the confusion with Pippin's healing time. It has been more than a week that has passed by the time he helps with harvest. Perhaps I should have indicated that more than just by inferance. The healers have him getting up and about in the house before the first week is out and then outside the week after that, so he was already past the first week when he and Diamond have their dance in the garden. It is later in the second week that the girls have their prank. I really don't indicate but it is a while after that that he's helping with the harvest, not later that day nor necessarily even the day after.

I'm also going by Tolkien seeming to have hobbits recover from things quickly. He has Frodo up and alert at the Council of Elrond the day after he first wakes up from his wound. He has Frodo and Sam waking recovered enough to attend a day of celebrating and feasting the very day they awake after needing only two weeks to recover from all their deprevation and injuries from the last part of the Quest. He has Pippin up and waiting table at the feast then later Gimli mentions that Pippin had only first been "up and abroad" the day before, also having had only two weeks to recover from being squashed.

Yes, he has a bit of a challenge ahead of him with Diamond. But he's made great inroads already. It's hard for her not to fall for the hobbit of her dreams :) How different for him though to have a lass he actually needs to pursue!

Thank you so much, Bodkin, for reading and responding so faithfully :) :)

I love the way Pippin handled the lasses prank! A true master of pranks indeed! Now, I think handling the business of getting Diamond to the dance in his company will be a bit more tricky. I do hope he has a good idea for that one.

Author Reply: Hehehehe, he knows good potential when he sees it :)

He has a wonderful plan - he's clever and in love ;)

Thank you so much, GW!

Oh, my gosh, you had me rolling as much--if not more--than the first time, Pearl!! Pippin is such a mischief maker! I needed a good laugh today--and you know why. Thank you!

I love how you have Pippin working right alongside his cousins in the field...just being one of the lads. I really liked that. *Very* cool chapter! Brilliant. :-)

Clever Hobbit, Peregrin Took. And Aster certainly deserved the scare, although I wouldn't have given her more on how to do better next time, myself.

Author Reply: Indeed he is :) I think he wouldn't mind helping her better her skills even if she should ues them on him again. Most pranksters enjoy being the victim nearly as much as being the perpatrator.
