A Healer of Hearts  by Frodo Baggins 5 Review(s)
AntaneReviewed Chapter: 20 on 11/5/2006
Frodo’s brown curls stuck any which way they wanted to (and they each had a different opinion) - Love it!

But trying to lie to his Sam, he should know better than that - must be another sign how sick he is, plain out of his mind.

"I’ll bring you breakfast in bed." Frodo didn’t even protest, rose slowly and shuffled back to his room. ‘That settles it.’ Sam thought to himself. ‘He’s most definitely not feeling well.’

Namarie, God bless, Im mil le, Antane :)

Author Reply: But, Antane, I was describing *my* hair! LOL! LOL! Not really. It does seem that way in the morning though. And I just couldn't help add a little humour to coushin the coming angst. *claps hand over mouth* Did I say that out loud?
Actually...when Frodo tried to cover up how bad he felt, it proved that he wasn't so bad he couldn't even think of defending himself. Well, perhaps 'defending' isn't the right word. He was well enough to still have an ounce of Baggins stubborness, at least. But the going back to bed without protest was a dead give-away. Namarie, mell nin!
Im mil le,
God Bless,
Frodo Baggins

It seems I've missed an update! But nothing is better than reading *two* chapters in a row instead :)

I'm really glad that Merry is well. Only a broken arm - that *is* a miracle! And when Frodo received the good news his spiritual health improved greatly. But still, there is that bad cough...

Halmir, however, is getting worse. He would never admit it, of course. But I think Frodo is right: Halmir is remembering, is haunted by his memories. And so Frodo's mere presence was a relief to him.

I'm wondering about the relationship between those two. Does Halmir regard Frodo as if he was his older brother, or more like his father? What do you think?

Author Reply: Hullo, Andrea!
That's because I updated two chapters very close together. :)
Trust me, I'm glad too. :) I really couldn't have hurt him. After all, he is my cousin and I love him very much. Yes, Frodo did improve spirtually. Physically however...you'll just have to wait and see!
Yes, Halmir is getting worse. I hate to do that to him, and all of them for that matter. But this event has been planned since the beginning. Frodo will see him through it. :) The relationship between Frodo and Halmir is very unique. In a sense, they are equals, both fighting pain and deep grief. But also, as Frodo is older and has been through more, he more like an elder brother to Halmir. Don't forget, Frodo's still working through his pain from the Ring and the trauma from the Quest. So, to answer your question, they're more like brothers. :) I must go. Namarie!
God Bless,
Frodo Baggins

Yes, a bit of healing from one who knows all too well what trauma survived can do to one.

Author Reply: Hannon le! :) Yes, Frodo would know all too well about trauma.
Well, Happy Yule and Happy New Year!
Namarie!
GOd Bless,
Frodo Baggins

Ooh, poor Halmir! Poor Frodo! But Merry's alive! *bounces* I didn't think you'd kill him, but I wasn't sure in there, it didn't seem possible he was alive! I love how concerned Frodo is for Halmir, and Miriel is so sweet! Can't wait to hear what happens next!
God bless,
Ellie

Author Reply: *smiling at you* You should have known that I wouldn't really hurt my Merry bad! I modeled Miriel after QG. The author, not the character in the book. She's my Sam and trust me, she's very motherly. You should see some of the arguments we have! :) Namarie

Oh, dear, dear. The suspense is already up again, but a different kind this time. Sounds like Frodo's got the flu or something similar, or maybe a really bad cold. Maybe pneumonia, but I can't say since I've never had it. He beats all I've ever seen! Saying "all right" one minute and then showing how false it is by just giving in. But I wouldn't want to argue then either, poor dear.

And I can see why this ordeal would bring back bad memories for Halmir. He's so young and has already seen too much. What made him cry this time? And are you going to go ahead with you-know-what? :) Or *can* you, with two men...er, Hobbits down already? Can't wait to see what happens next, as always!
God bless,
Galadriel

Author Reply: I can't stand *not* having even a teeny bit of suspense. You should know that, dear. Why, think of it, I've only been here(NC) a year now and just think how many pranks and gifts and what not we've given each other!
He's got the flu, because I know what I'm dealing with and I really don't feel like researching right now. The poor thing is going to lost most of his voice soon. It'll come back though. Give him a break, he's a Baggins! And he's Frodo Baggins, at that. He has to at least try to keep up his stubborness and say he's alright. And the reason he gave in so easily is that he was just feeling miserable, and at this point wanted to go back to bed again.

Did you like what I did with Halmir's past? I was afraid to post that, knowing you invented him in the first place. You also gave me a little synopsis of his life, but when my computer crashed, I lost all that. I think what I had was close. Well, do you think I should go on with the you-know-what? ;) I want to, but as Frodo is there when the you-know-what happnes, perhaps I ought to wait until he heals. What are your thoughts on this, O Elven Queen, fair and wise? *dodging frusterated blow from you, smiling misheivously*
Namarie!
God Bless,
Frodo Baggins
