Yes, smoking a pipe must seem so strange a custom to these southerners!

Author Reply: Definitely; different customs can seem so strange to those who haven't seen them before.

I loved this glimpse of Aragorn and Imrahil in their younger days.Much as I love Aragorn,I would react just like Imrahil to the pipeweed!

Author Reply: I agree. As it is, I have rather nasty asthma so I would rather be with Aragorn when he isn't using the pipe!

I love those pieces which show Aragorn in whatever guise just simply relaxing and enjoying life because these moments must have been a bit rare in his life after he turned 20, and before he gained his kingdom. This vignette of yours strikes just the right mood. I enjoyed it very much.

Author Reply: Oh, certainly. I think that, even though he was of high position in (presumably) Rohan and Gondor, he must have been rather busy often and times to relax must have been rare. I do like them, myself.

I know just how Aragorn/Throngil feels, there is nothing like something from home to remind one of it! Be it food, or leaf or just a voice speaking 'your' language!
More please,
Lynda

Author Reply: Oh, certainly. During my trip to China there were quite a few things that popped up here and there that happily reminded me of home. Thanks for reviewing.

So Imrahil is not a convert to the art of pipe smoking! *grin* His attitude seemed to change markedly when he realised to whom he was speaking.

Author Reply: Ah, by the time of Denethor's wedding Thorongil was a well-known and famous man in Gondor. *g* And, who knows, he did have to learn ship handling from somewhere...

That gives me an idea. Anyhow, thanks for the review!
