Poor Aragorn to be so slandered.I'd love to know what happened to Ferny and his mates once Aragorn was king!

Poor Aragorn; he's got an uphill battle between fending off Ferny and herding hobbits.

Author Reply: Such a pity he couldn't give Ferny some well-earned justice. "Herding hobbits"! Heh, how very true.

And we all know how well that turned out...

Interesting little ficlet!

A very perceptive take on the moments before Aragorn meets the hobbits. And it ties perfectly with Aragorn's mention of his looks being against him, and of the desire of a hunted man to be trusted. Well done.

Author Reply: Thank you! I remembered that passage and wondered how many people distrusted him because he looked like a scoundrel.

Indeed--"Stick-at-naught" Strider's far better than Bill Ferny could ever prove, much less a roomful of squinty-eyed Southerners! And he did try to keep these Hobbits out of danger!

Author Reply: It always kills me when I read about Butterbur stopping Strider from warning the hobbits. And while Bill Ferny is a no-good man, he is one of my favorite unknown characters XD
