Rusty is certainly starting to grow on me :) What a great story, I love the connection between Merry and Pippin, of course Merry would know it was him! ^_^ Author Reply: Rusty's a favorite OC of mine! Merry *would* know--he's taught Pippin well, LOL! Of course, he's enough older than Pippin that he knows how to gauge whether a prank is too dangerous--but Rusty's the same age as Pippin, and just as reckless!

Lobelia in the bath ... ... ... The sight of that must have been punishment enough for two young hobbits! I like Rusty! I hope she features more - I'd like to know what kind of adult she became - and what she did during the Troubles. I can't imagine she would have sat back and cowered. Very clever Frodo! Just precisely the right amount of gentlehobbitly approval and interest to bend Rusty's mother to his will! Observers could learn a lot from him! Author Reply: A very harsh punishment indeed, and quite possibly the worst thing Pippin saw in his life up until he got his first close-up of an Orc! LOL! I've been pondering adult Rusty. I've a few ideas. Frodo's very clever indeed, and quite well aware of how useful his gentlehobbitly charm can be!

"A Sight To Rememeber" indeed ;-) I've read some of the "nekkid hobbits" stories now. Most of them were about Pippin, Merry, Frodo or Sam, or all of them together. *This* is the first one about another hobbit, and not only *some* hobbit, but Lobelia Sackville- Baggins! LOL! That was great fun! I'm still grinning when I think of Frodo finally giving up to control himself and bursting out into laughter. And I loved the moment when Pippin heard the maidservants talking about him. And Rusty is back! I like her very much. Have you ever read Enid Blyton's "Five friends" stories? I always wanted to be like George :) Author Reply: I think Marigold hit the jackpot when she called for "nekkid hobbits", LOL! Seems like *everyone* loved the idea! It would have been hard for Frodo to resist laughing at Lobelia's discomfiture, I'm afraid. Yes, even though they were saying nice things, it's very embarrassing to be made the subject of a conversation when no one knows you're listening. I'm rather fond of Rusty. It's been years since I read Enid Blyton--I'll have to find them. *sigh* I started to say "go to the library". *sigh* Oh well, one of the smaller branches is open part time now.

Aaaarrrgghh! *claw own eyes out* Lobelia! Eeerrrgh! Oh my goodness, this was so funny! I was in stitches at Pippin's reactions, and at Frodo's amusement, which set Paladin off. Priceless, my dear, and it achieved the desired effect and got rid os the dreaded S-Bs. Wonderful! I've also been giggling at another couple of 'nekkid hobbit' tales - the one called 'Tater Tot' and Cathleen's 'Of Birds and Bees.' I was howling with laughter and can recommend them. Author Reply: Yes. Well. *giggle* At least it wasn't Lotho! Now that would have just been *cruel*! I'm so glad you got a laugh out of it! Marigold gathered a bumper crop of delightful tales this month! Have you read GamgeeFest's "In a Flash" yet? It had me just flat *rolling*!

And every time I think the LAST nekkid Hobbit story can't be topped, I find it CAN! Oh, dear, the idea of a naked Lobelia has me gagging also! Hilarious, my dear, and interesting to see Cado and Clovis in their more "innocent" days. And am GLAD that Pippin found it possible to convince everyone he had no part in the prank. Whether it caught Lotho or Lobelia, in the end it worked to the good at ridding the party of their odious presence! Lovely! Author Reply: *very big grin* I'm so glad you enjoyed it, dear! It's funny that as soon as Marigold announced the challenge I knew *exactly* what nekkid hobbit would appear and why! Too bad I had to traumatize poor Pippin and Rusty in the process, LOL! I figured Clovis and Cado would have to be there, since this is three years before "The Dare". The thing is, no one knows about the pranks they pulled on Lotho at the fair, and everyone always *assumes* that Pippin is too sweet and innocent to get into that sort of trouble on his own--but to those who know him that means *Merry* who is the one getting him into playing pranks and such. Obviously if Merry had an iron-clad alibi, then Pippin was in the clear. None of them realize Rusty's trouble-making proclivities, and so she is Pippin's alibi by her mere presence... There was never any question of it being Lotho who was actually caught in the buff. Lobelia was bad enough, but Lotho? EEeewww...just...eewww! Thanks for the lovely review!

LOL! Oh, the horror, the atrosity of it all! Seeing Lobelia *gack* naked is a far worse punishment for that prank than anyone else could have dreamed up. At least they were able to do everyone a favor and chase off the SBs for good. I loved Frodo's reaction to hearing about the prank and how he set off the other adults. Author Reply: Yes, I think that sight will probably give them a few sleepless nights, and maybe even a nightmare or two! And chasing off the S.-B.s was a lovely bonus! Frodo's sure to have found it funny--he'd never egg Merry or Pippin on to do something like that, in spite of Lotho's suspicions--but he would most certainly enjoy the results!

*giggling* Oh my goodness, those two are a *dangerous* pair! But Lobelia deserved it, and if she and her unbearable son and husband are leaving, then so much the better for everyone. Yes, I imagine that prank would have been highly amusing to Frodo, and it was just wonderful to see everyone having a good laugh over it, even Pal and Tina. :) You know what would have been even funnier? If Lobelia had actually managed to get the stuff in her hair! But then everyone would have had to hear about it. I'm so glad Pippin and Rusty didn't get in trouble, but of course their consciences would sound the warning bells. They'd best not try that again. Rusty is so funny, hating dresses so passionately. I wonder what she'd be like as an adult? Very clever and considerate of Frodo to draw the ladies' attention to the plaid material! :) I love the servants here- "She may be gentry, but she sure don't act like it!" That says so much for Paladin and Eglantine and most others at the Great Smial. And how like our Pippin to comfort the new maid. God bless, Galadriel Author Reply: They are, aren't they? Merry is enough older than Pip that he can gauge how "dangerous" a prank might be, and the likelihood of it causing serious trouble. Rusty, however, is the same age as Pippin, and just as reckless when it comes to acting on impulse--so she is far more likely to egg Pippin on or even suggest trouble in the first place. It *did* amuse Frodo no end, as well as the rest. If not their consciences, then at the very least the memory of what Lobelia looked like! She is a tomboy to be sure. I have been toying with her meeting up with Pippin again as an adult--so we will have to see. As for Frodo, well, his being so kind and considerate--I guess you could probably tell that Rusty has a little crush on him, which is what motivated her to do the prank in the first place! I had fun writing the part with the servants. I think the Whitwell Tooks would have been a breath of fresh air to the servants at Great Smials after the reign of Lalia and Ferumbras.
