Oh my. I read this first at HASA, and it still has the power it did on the first reading. The subtlety and understatement enhance the horror and oh, yes, the despair. Truly a chilling picture of what if. Well done. Author Reply: Hiya Doc! And thank you! I really do enjoy writing twisted little pieces - it's oddly liberating.

I love this short "could be" story. It's a shame that you will not continue it, because I would love to read you view on how this news of Galadriel taking the One Ring and the killing of her daughter's husband and giving her children to orc's to torture, was dealt with in Valinor by Celebrian and what the Valar would do, since Galdriel as Dark Queen would be even more powerfull then Sauron and could easily expand her power to the undying lands. Author Reply: Thank you! I'm not so much an Elf-girl, though -- and knowing the way my brain works, it would likely be "everyone dies even more". Because my brain likes to make things evil some days.

Very interesting and insightful offering of the ultimate LotR "What If". I very much like how literally you interpreted her words. Author Reply: Thank you! I like to take things very literally sometimes -- it helps me consider things from a different angle. :)

Both chilling and thought provoking, you show how what seemed an easy option for disposing of the Ring, would not have worked at all. Author Reply: Thank you! Yep, Frodo could try to give that sucker away all he wanted to, but in the end, it would have been nothing but horror.

Whoo--YES--quite dark, here. So, Legolas is dead, as is Elrond and so many others. And only Merry and Pippin elude her for the moment.... No, no greater warnings needed, for you did well enough. Author Reply: Heh. Thank you! This is one of the very first LOTR things I ever wrote - I'm just glad I didn't continue in this vein all the time! :)
