This is brilliant! The way Aragorn works through the family until he comes to the right man is really neat. You know what's coming, but you are still eager to read on to see how it works out. It's also a real feast for a Faramir fanatic. The idea that Aragorn is, as it were, inspired by a vision of the Steward acknowledging his kingship is most inspiriting. I don't think it's false to the book, either, because if Faramir doesn't acknowledge Aragorn as king, he can't be king, as I see it. Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.RAksha and I had great fun writing this from her original plot. I love exploring Aragorn and Faramir's relationship and how Faramir's acknowledgement enabled him to become King. I'm so pleased you enjoyed the story.

Probably a good thing, that dream. Heartening, but also something that made the king-in-waiting go that extra yard to haul Faramir back from the gates of death. Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I feel that Aragorn would try his best to help anyone in need but his vision maybe helped him believe he could save Faramir when all seemed hopeless.

Hi Linda and Raksha - I enjoyed how Aragorn was so haunted by his youthful dream of receiving the Steward's rod that its memory persisted through the years as he met the Lords of Gondor. The thought that he had a vision of Faramir practically a generation before Denethor's son was born is quite touching. The thematic content in "The One" toggles nicely into the stories I've read that the two of you have written independently. Oh, and did I forget to mention, that "The One" is nicely written, tight and quick flowing. - Steff Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.Raksha and I enjoyed writing the story and are delighted you enjoyeed reading it. I have always envisaged a special connection between King and Steward and Raksha shares that view. I'm pleased you feel it fits well with our our stories, I adore Aragorn and Raksha adores Faramir so the theme suited us both !

I liked this short little story very much. It would have given Aragorn much hope... though he would also have wondered about it at times, but still I would think the hope would have been there to cling to through all that he went though. Nice job, Linda and Raksha! Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.Raksha and I enjoyed writing the story and are delighted you enjoyeed reading it. Aragorn was gifted with foresight,so we thought maybe he foresaw his Steward.

I enjoyed this fic very much. It is beautifully written and develops an interesting idea. His appearance in the premonition is yet another way that Faramir confirms Aragorn's right to the kingship, though I feel sorry for poor Aragorn who has to suffer through many disappointments before he finally sees the right Steward. Thanks for sharing this! Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.Raksha and I enjoyed writing the story and are delighted you enjoyeed reading it. I feel poor Aragorn's life was full of frustrations before his destiny was finally realised.

Simply beautiful, kudos to both co-authors. I loved how Aragorn's longing over the years to find his Steward was portrayed, especially his disappointment when he came to Gondor and met Ecthelion and Denethor and saw they were not the ones in his vision, and neither was Boromir when he met him at Rivendell. Then at the end, he meets Faramir and knows it is the man he had seen in his vision, who would be his loyal Steward and friend. Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I'm so pleased that you enjoyed the story.Raksha and I enjoyed writing it. Raksha's idea just caught my imagination for as you well know, I believe Aragorn and Faramir share a special bond.

An interesting twist on Aragorn's motivation and assessment of his own state of readiness. He does strike me as the sort who really wants everything to be aligned perfectly when he makes his move, although circumstances do not do him this favor nearly as often as he would like. Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I'm pleased you found the story interesting. The original idea was Raksha's which appealed to me.I agree that Aragorn is waiting for the right time.
