I loved this story of Aragorn's mother stoping to help a hurt elf. Poor woman has morning sickness.

You're quite right! That was an unexpected meeting in Mirkwood. It's nice to think of Legolas having some acquaintance with Aragorn's parents - and Gilraen has shown herself to be competent and confident. Not to mention having ensured the elf's survival, so that he can, in turn, protect her son.

What’s this?! What a lovely surprise. I’m grinning away here. You’re so sweet. And yay, your elf muse is back! This is wonderful. I love the opening – you do a great job creating the setting, with the pleasant sound of the running water set against the sorrow of the elf and the darkness of his memories. I also really like the dreamlike quality as the woman tends to Legolas and he slowly realises that it’s real. Then I had to stop myself from scrolling down to see who she was!! It made me smile to think of the two of them having tea near the campfire. I was so intrigued by how calm she was, and how familiar with elves. Oh, and it tickles me to think that Elrond has a painting of Thranduil and his wife hanging in Imladris! And it turns out that it’s Gilraen! I admit that completely surprised me! You really captured her mix of strength and kindness. She seems like a very capable and loving person and I just love the idea that there’s not only this history but a genuine affection between her and Legolas. There was certainly a touch of poignancy about the ending, knowing what the future has in store for these two and their unborn child but what I really take away from that scene is the deep love they have for each other. Let them have their joy, even for a short while. I thoroughly enjoyed the interaction between Legolas and his mysterious helper. It’s such a charming idea too. Thank you for such a lovely story. Mmm, I’m going to have to go read it again… :-)
