Absolutely brilliant! I think I said as much in my email, but the brilliance is even clearer now. Love the brevity you've given these turning points. These are huge moments for Tolkien's tale, but like most turning points, they've not fully realized until long after the decision is made. And while they are recognized as significant, they're not seen for what they truly are. Even Denethor doesn't completely comprehend, which is a lovely bit of irony, by the way. Love the changes and additions you've made and love your word economy. Very smooth read. Good job, my friend! Author Reply: Thank you, TT! That's just what struck me about these moments - none of them realized the significance entirely. They were coming from their own perspectives, their own stories, and about to be thrown into a much larger one. I'm glad it worked for you, changes and all.

Great idea! Pondering such choices is one of the most lonesome burdens of a leader, and these three, if so different in race and temper, are like one in their present plight. I particularly liked Thranduil´s hesitation, because the news Legolas was to convey were particularly bad, so it was only proper that the King would send his own son to offer explanations for such a failure... Nice job, Docmon, I really liked it. Author Reply: Thank you perelleth! I'm glad you enjoyed them. I was particularly interested in how these three came from such different circumstances, yet their fates were much the same.

All three of these are marvelous, and the choice of Gloin and Gimli particularly logical. Very nice! Author Reply: Thanks, shirebound for taking the time to read and to write!

I really liked this perspective, or rather, I should say these perspectives on this event. We know the way they all converge but to these three rulers, they feel like separate events. Nicely done. Author Reply: Thank you, daw. I wanted to look at the different reasons that brought some of the members to Rivendell, which ended with such similar destinies for each of them. I suppose they don't feel like separate events until you look through each one's perspective. Thanks for the observation.
