I am so glad someone wrote this tale, Edoraslass. I am so glad Dwarves returned there to set things to rights, and to see the other Dwarves of Balin's party laid properly to rest. And to find Boromir's cloak there--I am so glad it was given to Gimli, for he will see it to Faramir, treating it with the honor it deserves. Author Reply: I don't write a lot of Dwarves, and when I finally do, I always thing, "Why don't I write more Dwarves?" :) There's something very comforting and honourable and...er...solid about them, and I think that even if they hadn't known whose cloak that was, they would still have treated it with honour. Thanks, Larner!

Gimli wept into the musty fabric, then carefully stowed it with his belongings. Then he returned to the makeshift tombs, to help his kin ease the sorrow of their hearts. *weeps with Gimli* That's just gorgeous imagery Poor Gimli focusing on the task at hand, postponing his mourning until another time. Author Reply: Thank you! I think that the dwarves are very, very pragmatic - they feel that important work like this must be finished before they can allow themselves the luxury of grieving.

This is just full of respect, and love, and such a sense of honorable closure for the dead and the living. And the cloak! A beautiful story. A book written by Gimli about his own thoughts and experiences during (and after) the War would be very interesting, I think. He is a Dwarf of deep perception and emotion. Author Reply: In the movie, Boromir takes that cloak off in Moria, then we never see it again. I'd been wanting to do something about the dwarves going back to the mines, and it just came together so nicely. And you're right - a book of Gimli would be fascinating read. Thanks!

Lovely, lovely story Edoraslass. Full of compassion and sorrow but a very nice tribute to the dwarves. Author Reply: Thank you! I just couldn't see them leaving all their kin in the mines uncared for.
