A wonderful bringing of Movie-verse out of Book-verse. To see Merry saving Pippin from the troll only to almost lose him to the Nazgul's fell beast was marvelous, as well as the realization that the presence already of the Black Breath would possibly draw the rest of the Ring-wraiths to Merry to avenge themselves. And such a wonderful testiment to the love between these two cousins.

Yes--they are alive and healing--and in the Houses.

Now these two must be sought. Valiant, stubborn, beloved Hobbits!

To think of sending these two out to fight would take all they have, I think. Poor lads.

Lovely rationalization to explain the movie-verse. Yes, Frodo's own determination would indeed be seen in his Merry.

A delightful tale, and a good gap filler for movie-verse here. Thanks. Author Reply: THANK YOU!!!! Now I can watch the movies a little easier, without quite the same intensity of desperate wishes for more M & P scenes... and of course I'm glad you read and enjoyed it all too.

Our Pippin--alternately loquacious and responsible, bouncing and then falling into introspection. The lads are growing up, far too quickly, I fear. And Merry is relieved to find Pippin alive at all. Author Reply: I heart Pippin too. He's always been my favorite (can you tell?), though the longer I read and write about Merry (and the other hobbits) the more I love them all.

The grief of waiting, hearing one so well loved apparently dying.... Hold on, lads--Gimli will find the both of you soon. Not, thankfully, under a troll in this version.... Author Reply: Indeed...after all, if Merry had been there in the book, there's NO WAY Pippin would have been squashed. He just wouldn't have allowed it to happen.

Aha! Marvelous moment! Praise THESE two Halflings and their determination, and Manwe for sending his eagles! Hooray! Author Reply: Yaaaaay! This is my favorite chapter, just so you know. Thanks for cheering with me. :-)
