Cross purposes!

Eomer isn't going to pick up on the sneaky work of the nasty butterfly - he would never suspect that sort of deviousness - so he's going to avoid Lothiriel because he thinks she wants him to ... while she is going to be suffering in noble silence because Little Miss Nasty extracted a promise of silence. (Very Sense and Sensibility - Lucy Whatshername and Elinor to a tee! Unfortunately I don't think there's a richer brother about to win Wilwarin's greedy attention from Eomer.) I'm still counting on the ugly Cupid. He'll have no trouble cutting through the tangle. Or anything else!

Author Reply: Well, you've had some very good guesses in the past, but I think you're slightly off here - at least with the 'suffering in noble silence'. It would be no fun (for me)! I suppose I could try and get Lord Girion of legendary girth to show some interest in Wilwarin, though. Although like you said, she has set her sights on becoming a queen, I'm afraid. And Cupid is still waiting in the wings...

More on Sunday! Have a nice weekend.

Poor Eomer--when he finds out what the dear butterfly has done he's going to be totally livid, and I think ready to slice HER into little pieces.

Very likely!

Author Reply: I'm not sure if you can slice butterflies into pieces ;-) But I agree, Eomer is going to be tempted to do so! Unfortunately it will take him a while to get in possession of all the facts...

Now here's a perfect example of how vague communication gets couples in trouble. When Lothiriel says, "How can you ask such a thing after what you did last night?" she is thinking of his supposed betrothal to Wilwarin, while Eomer is thinking of his very forward actions with Lothiriel at the river. It is just maddening to see where this is taking each of them!

Author Reply: Oh yes, and that's only the beginning of it! And the funny thing about it is that each of them thinks they're being perfectly clear - it happens in real life all the time. It just goes to show that not what is said is important, but how we interpret it. You might find the next chapter frustrating...

I am one of those lurking readers that has been following this story carefully for a few weeks now but hasn't ever reviewed. But I have to tell you, I really am enjoying your story. It is very creative and original, and well-written. I'm really looking forward to finding out what happens next; hopefully Eomer and Lothiriel will get this whole mess sorted out soon, since I don't think Wilwarin will be able to keep her deception hidden for much longer :)

You should have Wilwarin eaten by a warg... except that would be a terrible thing to do to the warg.

Author Reply: Well, congratulations on un-lurking ;-) It's always nice to hear from a new reader and I'm pleased to hear you're enjoying the ride. But I'm afraid the whole mess will get even more tangled up, before things get better (a lot better though).

I like animals, even wargs, so it looks like Wilwarin will survive the experience!

That´s great!
Eomer has finally realized who´s the right one for him, but he still has some reservations. As soon as he finds out what Wilwarin (a really poisonous butterfly!) has done he will be as steaming mad as Imrahil already is. I don´t want to be in Wilwarin´s shoes when he confronts her! And I hope he does it in public!

Please update soon, I´m waiting! *jumps up and down*

Author Reply: Hello Cornelia,
yes, I think he would be steaming mad. Unfortunately it will take him a while to figure things out - nothing like a few misunderstandings to add excitement to your life! The butterfly will eventually get her comeuppance, though, I promise.

Ahh, poor Eomer, to have Lothiriel turn on him like that! Poor Lothiriel, to have her hopes dashed.I know both Imrahil and Amorothos are steaming mad at Eomer.....but mad will not be the word to describe Eomer's mood when he finds out the sordid truth! Wilwarin better make herself scarce if she doesn't want to be on the receiving end of Eomer's wrath! Oh, but I WANT her to receive her just deserts.I want her to be completely humiliated...and I'm sure you'll deliver that scene soon.Wilwarin better avoid Eowyn, too!

I can't wait to read more of this wonderful story.Update soon, Lia.

Author Reply: Yes, there is an uncomfortable time ahead for everybody concerned. But Lothiriel's reaction might not be quite what 'Lady' Wilwarin had in mind - no doubt she expected her to slink away quietly. And Eomer is not one to give up easily either!

I'm not sure about Wilwarin getting her just deserts soon, but she will get them eventually, I promise! Off to do more writing... ;-)

“How can you ask such a thing after what you did last night,” she snapped, withdrawing her hand from his and taking a step back. “Don’t touch me!”

Oh dear. And of course he must misinterpret this. Poor man. And poor Lothiriel!

*still wants to murder Wilwarin*

Author Reply: yes, poor Eomer - he's too honourable and considerate for his own good really. And things can actually get worse...

What a nasty misunderstanding, and not an accidental one, of course. Wilwarin did her work well. But what is Eomer to think? This is completely puzzling for him.

Author Reply: No, it's not an accidental misunderstanding - I did my work well ;-) And it will be a while until Eomer comes to the right conclusion...I'm having fun with this!
