Oh, Elemmire! How beautiful! That's all I can say...How very, very beautiful. I so love "Into the West," and it will be even more meaningful now. Thank you.
God bless,
Galadriel

Author Reply: And thank you, my dear Queen Galadriel for writing such a wonderful review. I'm very happy you found this tale to be beautiful. I'm also very glad to have given another reader more sense of meaning to 'Into the West,' one of the most beautiful and ethereal songs ever written, in my opinon.

When I wrote this tale, I was sitting outside by myself on deck of the cruise ship I was on at the time. I had my MP3 player with me and listened several times to the 'Grey Havens' and 'Into the West' from the ROTK soundtrack. The entire experience was quite moving and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves that song. I was hence moved to write, so this tale was completely written by hand on the deck of a ship while staring out at the vastness of the Pacific Ocean and contemplating my small and humble existence in the universe.

Thank you for this, my dear Elemmire! I think Into the West is one of the most beautiful of love songs since it is Frodo and Sam's song. I hadn't heard of the idea of Galadriel singing the first part to Frod but you did a great job here in making that real.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Thanks, Antane.

In the extra features of the ROTK: EE, there's a segment somewhere (I think it's in the part about Cameron, the kid with cancer) that talks about Into the West. Cameron was the person who inspired most of the lyrics to the song, but somewhere it was also mentioned that P.J. wanted it to sound like it was Galadriel singing it to Frodo, hence the voice of Annie Lennox was commissioned.

I too, think Into the West to be one of the most beautiful lyrical songs ever made. It's words and melody are so perfect, but I also find them to be slightly haunting too. I personally don't find it to be so much of a love song in that sense, so much as a song of remembrance. It does make sense though to think of it as a love song in consideration of the deep friendship Frodo and Sam shared.

How wonderful! I feel I finally understand that song now!

Author Reply: Thank you so very much, Shirebound!!

I'm glad that you and others feel more understanding of that song now. It is, of course, only my interpretation of it though. I had been wanting to write something about my interpretation of the lyrics based on what was commented about it in ROTK: EE for a while now. Sitting on the deck of a ship listening to 'The Grey Havens' and 'Into the West' while watching the sea pass by, gave me the last bits of inspiration I needed. It's an experience I highly recommend to any LOTR fan, especially those of Frodo. It was an enriching and tranquil experience to say the least.

I'm glad you enjoyed and thanks for reading/reviewing :D

Thank you for helping that song to mean even more. What a lovely idea to split it into two like that

Author Reply: Thanks, Harrowcat!

I'm glad that beautiful song means even more to you now. I love it and it's definitely one of my favorite songs with lyrics. To me, that second verse has always spoken of Frodo and Sam.

Don't say, we have come now to the end.
White shores are calling,
you and I will meet again ....

To me, it's like Frodo is saying to Sam 'it's all right to live your life without me in the Shire, for we shall one day meet again in the West and all will be well once more'

Listening to that song while sailing on the open ocean was just so very tranquil, relaxing, and very meaningful.

As always, thank you for reading/reviewing! It means a lot to me.
