What a perfect way to honour what November 11th is all about. Lovely story ST!! I also added to my LJ account today, a story I wrote last year after being inspired by the coverage of the 60th Anniversary Ceremonies of the Liberation of Holland and V-E Day.

If you, or anyone else here, would like to read it, my LJ is under the name of Tiggersk8.

Once again, what a perfect way to mark what November 11th is all about. Thank you Slightly Tookish!!

Author Reply: Thanks very much, Tigger! I think that the hobbits would have certainly remembered the Battle of Bywater, with battles being so rare in the Shire, but Pippin, having fought in several battles, would have had a unique perspective to share with his son. I'm glad you enjoyed!

Perfect for 11/11, and hopefully posted at 11:00.

Yes, the moment of remembering those known best, for the land loved and known best.

Author Reply: Thank you for reading, Larner!

Lovely ST. The passing of memories is very special. I love the use of the autumnal leaves. It is already November and we don't seem to be getting very much colour here this year.

Author Reply: Unfortunately we're not getting much color here either! But I am glad you liked the use of the leaves in this story. I had to 'see' them somehow :)
Thanks so much for reading!

What a lovely story, and a perfect one for the day. You made this veteran sniffle, and in a good way.

You should post this to Hobbit Holidays, you know. ;)

Author Reply: I'm so grateful that you found it moving...thank you so much. And thank you for your service too!
That's a good idea to post it to Hobbit Holidays - will do, thanks!

A beautiful story of remembrance and honouring those who have died in battle, and very appropriate for this weekend.

Fari is obviously a sensitive and sensible lad who will one day be a wise Thain.

Author Reply: Thanks very much, BB. I'm so glad you enjoyed this. It wasn't an easy story to write (I began it a year ago, actually) and yet I wanted to show how I thought Pippin would react and what he would teach his son.
