Oh sweetie, that’s so heartwarming and lovely. I read it at dinner break and now I’m crying because of the beauty of your words. You’re a born writer and no mistake.
Bilbo/Frodo stories will always have a special place in my heart.
Thank you, sunshine! You made my day even brighter.

Love,
Julchen

He buried his face in the scratchy wool of the old hobbit’s jacket as Bilbo’s arms came around him. It smelled of pipe weed and peppermint and rosemary and, even more, of love and security... And also the comforting constant presence of Sam...

Frodo was ever looked after. Lovely, loving story!

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Thank you, Antane, for such a lovely comment :)

I'm sorry to say I missed reading this one over at Marigold's Challenge! I enjoyed it very, very much!

Your beginning paragraphs are so descriptive that I felt like I was walking through Bag End with Frodo, watching my step over all the increasing clutter. And your characterization of Frodo and Bilbo was spot on!

This was such a touching scene between uncle and nephew and a very poignant, important, and touching conversation as Frodo is ready to accept adulthood and Bilbo prepared to leave his lad behind forever. You show the depth of their love for one another so very well here. I love stories featuring Bilbo and Frodo and this one is now one of my favorites. Well done!

p.s. Hmm, that sounds like an interesting variety of apple. I've never heard of it before and I live in apple country. Where is the Winter-Banana usually grown, if I may ask?

Author Reply: Thank you so much for your kind words, Elemmire. I did send the story to Marigold very late, so it didn't appear when the other stories did. It makes me so happy that this is now one of your favorite Bilbo and Frodo stories! I can't think of a lovelier compliment. Winter Banana apples (according to the Internet) originated in the late 19th century in Indiana, but I found references to them being grown in the UK in the early 20th century and in other places in the U.S. so I don't know that there is one particular place now that you would find them. They are considered a heritage apple.

A wonderful fulfillment of the challenge, Ibilover, seeing Frodo accepting his place as Master of Bag End when he'd thought to sacrifice all by going with Bilbo.

Author Reply: Thank you very much, Larner. I think Frodo would have felt very conflicted: wanting to go, but ultimately wanting more to stay.
