I'll just bet that Sam couldn't wait for that beef, mushrooms, and beer to be delivered to his room! He probably dreamed of food while he was sleeping after Frodo's visit. =) Great sequel to "Keeper of the Jewels"!

LOL That was brilliant! Frodo was so great in this with all of his teasing and finally his protecting Sam. I loved it. Author Reply: Thank you - and I loved writing it! Cúthalion

It occurs to me that a nice hearty beef stew and a pint of stout likely would've gotten that iron into Sam with fewer complaints. *laughs* My mother in law was told to drink Guinness while whe was pregnant because of the iron content - and I've used stout as a base for beef stew on occasion... Still an absolutely lovely read! Author Reply: Thanks, dear. And I'm pretty sure Frodo will deliver exactly what he needs. *grins* Mona

I doubt the broth made from rusty nails is precisely the kind of iron best suited toward staving off anemia. Now, liver and spent brewer's hops happen to contain precisely the form of iron best suited to human needs, and I need only make a single guess to tell you which form Sam would prefer. A nice gift for the Master's birthday. Thank you! Author Reply: You're probably right, but rusty nails were actually used to provide iron - in earlier centuries, at last. But you are right, of course... Sam would probably have prefered the liver. (I would have prefered the nails. Honestly.*shudders*) Cúthalion
