Further Impressions  by Linda Hoyland 4 Review(s)

I, too, felt sorrow when I read that Arwen had pleaded with Aragorn to stay. For her, the parting was even more acute as she had lost, forever, the rest of her family, by her own choice.

'Arwen knew well what he intended, and long had foreseen it; nonetheless she was overborne by her grief. "Would you then, lord, before your time leave your people that live by your word?" she said.' Appendix LOTR

It's funny how one tiny, little line can make such an impact on you, isn't it?

That line of Arwen's always tugs at my heart too.

A sad, chilling drabble that brings home the despair that Arwen felt after Aragorn's death. The last line, about her being a walking shadow, is brilliant.
