Ah, a perfectly integrated gapfiller. Kudos!

Humm.... I seem to remember that day too! shoveling soggy, heavy water filled snow, what a storm, it was beautiful! I can see why you thought of this story. Does'nt Legolas walking on top of the snow make you wanna wap him with a snowball? LOL

That was nicely done and very convincing!

I live in Germany and there used to be at least one or two weeks of snow here, as long as I can remember. But not *this* winter! I can recall only two days of snow and the temperatures were too high for that time of year. In fact it was the warmest winter since monitoring, which started in 1900 I think.

Well, let's see what the future and particularly the next winter brings ;-)

An enjoyable filling out of a chilly passage in the book. You make me appreciate their strength even more.

Some statements included are direct quotes or rephrased passages.
Some? I think it would be shorter to point out the ones that weren't ;).

Still, I very much liked this, and it was good to see the struggle with the snow from Boromir's point of view.

*g* Yes, this particular piece has a bit more quoting than I usually allow myself. I thought it would be helpful for setting the stage, so to speak, but maybe it was a bit much. I've never been quite sure how to go about highlighting quoted/rephrased passages without interfering with the reading of the story, which is why I just made a general statement at the end. I'm glad you liked it! I've always missed not knowing the "Boromir details" in this particular part of the story. ;-)

Cute. It quite captures the futileness of dealing with snow! No matter how much you battle, or how long, more always comes! I live in a house with a metal roof, slanted. I shovelled the front walkways and everything, and was standing there quite pleased with myself when suddenly twice the amount of snow I had just shovelled slid off the roof, and right onto the sidewalk. Go figure. At least we burn many calories!

A very nice read, Linaewen, thank you!

Author Reply: Thanks!! I don't currently have a tin roof, but I know what they can do when it comes to snow, lol! It does seem to be a neverending battle. I'm thinking Boromir and Aragorn must have eaten up quite a bit of the food in their packs after working so hard clearing that particular snow drift.
