Love the desire to hold part of Ada's history, a necessary part of coming of age.

Lovely story.

Author Reply: I agree. :)

Having just finished grading a stack of final exams, I sympathize with Aragorn on the paperwork. He's lucky to have a nine-year-old boy come along and lead him away to more important things. There are few creatures nicer on the face of Arda than a boy of that age. And look what Eldarion gets! A ranger pin. That will be worth showing to his friends.

Author Reply: Definitely worth showing, especially if your father is the King of Gondor who was a ranger. I can imagine Eldarion flashing it and saying, "Look, look, my father wore this when he was a ranger. Did you know that all rangers wore them?" :)

That's a very sweet and moving father-and-son scene. Of course Eldarion would want to have *something*, if his friend also was proud of a gift from his own father.

Author Reply: That's how young children are. *grin* Always competing. But in a way, I was like Eldarion, begging to have something of my parents' childhood. :)
