| Not a review ...exactly, rather a note that the tale that this (and your other piece posted today) is drawn from seems not to be available here....where can one find it? (Before I Go to Sleep, i believe, is the title). Looking forawrd to getting the back story before ... reading this story. Matt Author Reply: As I said in my summary - I think, this piece is able to stand alone, as the beginning of the love story between Merry Brandybuck and Estella. But if you want to read the Story of Lily Proudfoot, too, you can find it here (beware the rating!). | Dear Cuthalion, Thank you very much for posting this here! I remember this story from your website. It was a series starting with the same paragraph, including different characters like Bilbo, Frodo, Pippin (I think) and Merry, of course! Maybe the text was even in German, I can't remember! But this story in particular I liked very much, because it marks two special events: the first dance of Frodo and Lily and the first *real* kiss of Merry and Estella! I enjoyed "Before I go to sleep" very much and I'm quite sure that I'm not the only one :) Author Reply: Yes; there were stories starting with this paragraph, written by Ariel ("The One", which inspired me to write "February Bride" and "A Yule Proposal"), by Grey Wonderer (where the one stealing the kiss was Bilbo!) and the one by me (it might well be that there were more, but I don't remember them). And you well have seen them on my site, for they are translated into german, of course. And yes, Lily and her first dance with Frodo snuck into that tale without me having any intention to use that (very beloved) scene from chapter 3 of BIGS. | Gracious me, that was beautifully told. It leaves us readers, like Merry, wanting more! Author Reply: *Laughs* Oh, but you have seen the rest - for this is the beginning of BIGS, of course, told from Merry's POV, and I must confess that I haven't written any more Merry/Estella-tales - yet. *ponders the idea and immediately starts to fight off the plot bunnies* Baaad influence. *winks* Cúthalion | |

| Oh, how marvelous--our Frodo dancing and our Merry capturing a heart with his flute-playing! (although I had Pippin doing that in my version--although my Frodo captured MANY a heart with his dancing!) Lovely--one I'd meant to read there but hadn't gotten to as yet. Wonderful imagery. Author Reply: I never had the chance to post Before I go to sleep here (because of the rating), but this one - sprung from a LJ-challenge - simply came out of the blue,telling the dance scene from chapter 3 of BIGS from a different POV. I guess I wanted to give the readers on SoA a chance to dip their toes into "my" AU-universe without having to deal with a NC-17-rating.
