I really like this story! I think the title was especially well chosen. It does a great job of showing everyone's emotions, without making anyone out to be the "bad guy" or intentionally hurtful. That Elrond and Elros would feel a bit of culture shock and even resentment at their change of circumstances makes a lot of sense. I liked Fairion; he seems really cheerful! Also, the story about Elrond sailing Cirdan's feet around the carpet was adorable. Great story!

This is a wonderful continuation! I particularly love Cirdan in this. He handles the young twins very well, helping them to see and understand. And the babyhood memories were adorable too. And I loved seeing how Elrond was chosen to be Gil-galad's herald. Great story, FP!

I really love how you are developing ELros and Elrond´s lives at this period. I have not yet finished vows, but the last chapter that I read was the one this vignette draws from, so I was overly pleased to see this extended version! :-) I think that their diosrientation is well captured, and I lvoed that they are both so ready to raise in temper...what a scolding Gil-galad got! ANd I loved it that they reached a compromise about parentage. THat scen was fun.

Ah, poor kids. All the bumping around they did must have been confusing. I would have been a little grumpy too...and scared. It was nice to see the adults react kindly and with understanding. Cirdan was terrific. He was only now beginning to appreciate what his strategic victory over Maedhros and Maglor had cost the twins, and he did not want to be the cause of any more grief in their lives. Great line. Gil-galad might have been young, but he was perceptive. Very nice story, FP. This time in Elros and Elrond's lives is a rarely done and interesting period to set a story. Well done!

That was very sad for the boys. But, it felt good seeing their resilience. Cirdan was wonderful in this, very grandfatherly. I am also glad to see they will indeed have a friend in Fairion. A very nice gift for Nilmandra on her birthday.

Those poor kids. It's easy to see how their loyalties would be confused at this point. Thank goodness the grownups knew enough to give them a little space and patience. I loved the conversation with Cirdan. And I suppose Gil-galad's compromise with Elrond is the first step toward the trusting friendship that will take them to the end. A lovely story for Nilmandra's birthday.

Poor kids. As if they hadn't had enough upset in their lives. Although they are actually much better off not being raised to adulthood by the Sons of Feanor - Middle-earth really didn't need Adopted Grandsons of Feanor going after those Stupid Stones. Cirdan was a good help - something to be said for great age - and Gil-galad has a kind heart. While a friend is always a good thing to have. Compromise. A Good Thing.

I feel so desperately sorry for Elrond and Elros here, wrenched away from the only person they can really remember loving and caring for them. No wonder they're sullen and resentful at first. I loved Elrond's confrontation with Gil-Galad - it's probably the first time the king has been spoken to like that! Lovely story, FP - and a happy birthday to Nilmandra!

Thanks, FP! This was a nice surprise. Your young Elrond and Elros are very likable characters (of course, how could Elrond not be?) and its easy to see the struggle they are having. It would be an adjustment for anyone to be torn from one life into another, and the older one is the harder it is. These poor kids have had it happen twice. They also know a side of Maglor that others do not - they just see him as the kinslayer who stole Earendil and Elwing's children. I really liked Cirdan - he was just the person they needed.

I add my own best wishes to yours. Knowing they won't lose one another at this point will giv both more heart to accept what they are given. And joy to both in the next few years--until the Choice is laid before them.
