My Friend, My Brother  by jenolas 3 Review(s)

The idea of a homesick elf who is losing his glow because he is out of his father's realm is wonderful. It's so very elfy. The tie to the forest is embodied in this.

"susurration" is such a nice word.

I like the line that winning the love an elf is hard to do but impossible to undo.

I also like the fact that you include Gilraen. So many fic writers just ignore her completely.

Author Reply: Well, Aragorn is one of the few characters whose mother lived a full life, so I decided Gilraen deserved a little more than a mention in passing.

Another great story, although I do not remember if it was listed as completed or not. The interactions between Aragorn and Legolas are at times both funny and solemn, suggesting the life long friendship and journeys that await them.

I found this story had a creative twist to it. Most stories have Aragorn meeting Mithrandir early in his life, and fully knowing him by the time he goes out into the Wild and does his rangerly thing. It was quite refreshing and a great read that this was the first time Aragorn meets the Istar!

Lovely Story
