So very moving. It must have been so hard for them to say goodbye. I will always wish that they didn't have to do so. Poor Frodo. I like the easy conversation between Merry and Pippin in this. Author Reply: Thank you so much, GW! I will always wish that Frodo had stayed in Middle Earth as well, although perhaps he would have died had he stayed. Thanks for reading and commenting!

Yes, thank God for Frodo's great heart and Sam's - and Gandalf's for coming with that warning. Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: Thank you for reading and commenting, Antane. I apologize for taking so long to reply. I'm glad you enjoyed!

This may not be a dream, but this was a nightmare they had never considered....and one from which they would not wake. Very well said, no dream, but a nightmare! Although I think that after they had the chance to say their farewells to Frodo their hearts were lighter. And like Sam they were able to be "one and whole" for many years to come - for Frodo! Author Reply: Hi, Andrea! Yes, I think after their goodbyes they were able to be happy and whole, although I'll wish Frodo could have stayed. Thanks for reading and commenting!

Poor fellows. It's not so different, I suppose, than my own version of the story. Author Reply: Hi, Larner! Thank you for reading and commenting. I don't think I've read your version of the story, although I'm in the middle of reading the Acceptable Sacrifice. I'm very much enjoying it.

What vivid dreams! A bit of prescience, perhaps, for both of them. And now they must rush to say their farewells. Author Reply: Thanks for reading and commenting, Dreamflower! Yes, very vivid dreams. If I had dreams like that, I'd lose my mind! I believe all four Travellers must have had very bad nightmares after the Quest. But the worst nightmare of all was losing Frodo.
