Oh, I like this! I hadn't thought about Frodo's feelings for the lasses coming back once the ring was gone. Now I can see where this might have happened and how he might have struggled with the idea of staying in the Shire and giving things a chance and yet realizing that it would never work. That must have made his time before he left all the more difficult. I'm looking forward to more of this! Author Reply: I hadn't thought about it either until recently. Don't know what exactly brought it about, but here is the result of that musing. LOL, seems we both have an idea of where this is going! Thanks for stopping by to read!

I do love this! I'm glad to have time to read and this story to read. Loved Frodo in this and I adored Pippin's reaction to Sam and Rose's as yet unmade announcement! Brilliant as always! Author Reply: LOL, I wouls swear that you've read this before. I know your time is at a premium, so I do appreciate you stopping by to leave (again?) a kind word of encouragement. Thanks for reading!

A new prologue! Had to read this much even though I can't read further until the weekend comes. I have this one marked to enjoy over my long weekend. I love it when someone researches a story since I rarely do. Happy New Year and tattoo to you too! Author Reply: LOL, you know, as I write this, it truly *is* tattoo...nautically speaking. :-) Oh, I forgot to change this bit -- this was from the first installment way back when I did the "Halloween" thing way before the actual holiday. So like me! I'm surprised I'm on time for Yule! Chapter 2 is my newest update with a follow up not too long from now. I promise not to drag this issue on for too long; there are other matters to tackle with Frodo before his last year is out. :-P Happy New Year and tattoo! Thanks for stopping by!

Ah, whether its Cuthalion's Lily Proudfoot or my Narcissa Boffin or White Gull's Iris Whitfoot, we all see Frodo as having been drawn at one time or another to at least one Hobbitess, it seems. Rather sad in some ways; but the urge would have been there. Author Reply: What?? :-O You mean this idea has been thought of before??? :-P LOL I figured it must have been covered by now, but it's new for me though. I do agree that the urge would have been there, especially just before and after his coming of age. I like to imagine that he was quite the catch in his day, lol. Although I can see how his itch for adventure and the burden he later carries interrupts his "fun". I like the thought of Frodo drawn to a pretty lass (or lasses!), and right now I enjoy exploring that facet of his character. Which brings me to ask the title of your Frodo and Narcissa story? I'm *still* working LOADS of overtime, so I can't promise when I'll get to read it, but I am greatly interested in reading your take on this idea. Thanks for reading!

This is so very well written, Pippinfan! It is not maudlin nor overly sentimental. It feels very real and genuine. I'm so glad you have Frodo at least noticing and somewhat considering a lass. I look forward to the further chapters of this story. A marvelous gem as always, Pippinfan :-) Author Reply: Thank you, Mentor! :-) While I don't wish for my Frodo to come across maudlin or overly sentimental, he'll have his tears at some point over certain issues, but not today. Not yet, anyway. ;-) Author Reply: Oh! And thank you for reading! :-P Idiot me forgetting my manners.

What a marvelous gift Merry gave to his Frodo. :) That year would have been quite difficult, so much to store up and now this wonderful gift given to make it easier. Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: It will be interesting to see what other gifts or mementos Frodo will tuck into his rucksack on the way to the Grey Havens, but I don't imagine it will be too much. Mostly memories jotted down into his Journal I should think. I agree that Frodo's last year had to have been difficult for him. Was he initially resentful to the idea of having to leave the Shire to find healing? When or how did he finally succumb to the idea of leaving (again)? These things are what I also intend to explore. Thanks for stoppin by to read!

This looks like the start of an excellent series of tales! I love the way Pippin took note of Frodo, and was able to raise his spirits. And I love the idea of Frodo having that sketch! I look forward to seeing more of what happened that year. Author Reply: Ah! You, too, lol. You're so sweet to read (or at least comment) a second time. I do hope to add to this in the not too distant future. Yours and Gryffinjack's tale, "Testiments of the Past" did force me muse upon the idea that Frodo probably *did* take some mementos with him; not a lot, probably limited to one small carry-on baggage. ;-) I think we can agree that the Hobbiton Moving Company, Ltd. didn't follow Frodo to the Grey Havens. :-) Thank you for stopping by (again) to read!

And they fell for it, just as we fall for it every time that kind of tale gets told among us to this day! Wonderful! Author Reply: LOL, yes they did -- just like I did at the tender age of 15. Someone told me a tall tale (i was gullible) and was quite surprise when they ended the story with "pulling" my leg. ;-) Thanks for reading!

I suspect much the same, Pippinfan, which is why I have him visiting Brandy Hall when he knew the family wouldn't be there, to say goodbye to his childhood and his childhood haunts. Now, to see how the muse has led you. Author Reply: I figured you Frodo-centric authors probably would have stumbled upon that idea eons ago, but me? I'm always behind the Eight Ball, lol. Thanks for commenting. :-)
