| Golden, I enjoyed this story very much and I applaud your willingness and courage to write something that is a bit out of the mainstream. The premise was a really cool idea, very different for a hobbit tale. And I love the way you weaved the story around the fable - excellent ideas! I hope you write another story soon! | „Gandalf? Muß man den schwierigeren Weg immer alleine gehen?“ fragte er. Ein Lächeln umspielte die Lippen des weisen Mannes und er blickte liebevoll auf den kleinen Hobbit vor sich hinab. „Nein, sagte er dann, und nahm Pippins kleine Hand in die Seine. Man kann diesen Weg auch gemeinsam mit wahren Freunden gehen.“ Wunderschön gesagt! Ich hatte ja schon das Schlimmste befürchtet, als Pippin Frodo geschlagen hat. Aber Gandalfs Erscheinen hat die Situation gerettet! So wie die kleine Raupe, würde Pippin niemals glücklich damit, sich nur zu verstecken. Er muß hinaus in die Welt, um ein bunter Schmetterling zu werden. Und die grünen Beeren helfen nur für eine sehr kurze Zeit! Und wen die große weiße Taube symbolisiert, ist wohl eindeutig! Merry und Frodo wären in diesem Bild dann wohl auch Vögel, größer als der kleine bunte, aber nicht stark genug, um den großen schwarzen Raben zu vertreiben. Diese Geschichte hat mir sehr gut gefallen! Dankeschön :) Author Reply: Vielen Dank Andrea! Du hast recht, Pippin würde niemals glücklich werden, wenn er sich nicht auf den Weg machen würde ein bunter Schmetterling zu werden. So viele Menschen entscheiden sich allerdings für das ewige "Raupen-Dasein", jedoch denke ich nicht, das diese Menschen wirklich glücklich werden bzw. am Ende ihres Lebens mit dem Gefühl die Welt verlassen können, ihrem Leben einen wirklichen Sinn gegeben zu haben. *g* Das mit der Taube hast du natürlich richtig erkannt. | |

| Pippin's not the first nor the last to be snared by apparent attention, drugs, and alcohol. His responsible side is fighting with the irresponsible side, though--there is hope for him, if not for the others. Okay, Frodo, find him and eke the sense in him out into the open. | Oh dear! Pippin has maneuvered (tricky word!) himself into a lot of trouble! It would be so easy to be angry with him, if his reaction wasn't so understandable! He feels lonely! His parents and sisters are seemingly unable to understand him and Merry is just too busy with his studies to care about him. Or so he feels... And so he finds himself some new "friends". What makes him feel happy for a time are in fact not his "friends", but the brandy and the little berries. I would call the latter "drugs", like those little colorful pills you can get everywhere. I'm right glad that Merry AND Frodo are there to lead Pippin onto the right path again. It won't be easy, I'm afraid! Tomorrow, I'll read the German chapters! It doesn't happen that often that I can read hobbit stories in my mother tongue ;-) Thank you, Golden! Author Reply: Hi Andrea!
