I just wanted to say what a great job you did writing this race. I was out of breath while reading it!! You did wonderful in creating the action and the tempo of the scene. Just terrific. I'm enjoying seeing this developmental story of Legolas. And the matching making (a bit later than this chapter) was hilarious! great fun.

back to reading,

Galadriel being able to tell the location of each competitor. Oh yeah so cool.
The King with his white knuckles. He sure can look neutral even if he isn't.
Another great description of the foot race. He just made it on the foot race. His nearest competitor was just slight seconds behind him. Of course as far as accuracy goes we know how well he does on that. No one can touch him.
The dignitaries were on a platform just above The Novice Final Target? They must really trust their novices.
King must be so proud.
I thought the betting was so good. I read another story where betting was a large part of elven lives. Intense pride on the part of Mirkwood and the Royal family. The kid done good.
So Legolas is now an elf lord fully of age. Even though he seems to be uncomfortable when he should be elated.
OOH Dungeons. We know all about them. They are dark, scary and icky. At least the fractious four thought so.
Legolas always hoped to do better. Oh dear an over-achiever on our hands here.
So it is crowds that make him uneasy. He is a country/forest boy at heart not a city slicker used to crowds of elves. They drive him to distraction.
Does he not feel that he fits in? Not looking either Silvan or Sindarin?
Well at least his good friends can chide him about his station in life, his zealous pursuit of perfection and get away with it. Make him feel a little better also.

Another chapter with great descriptions of the foot race, the aftermath, the betting and portraying Legolas' mixed feelings about his win.
Thanks I know you must put a lot of thought into this.
Oh that bed calling, calling, just for a moment.ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
