The Green Knight and the Master of Esgaroth  by Le Rouret 12 Review(s)

Wow, that was an incredible chapter. Honestly, despite all your lovely foreshadowing, I really wasn't expecting you to get that dark. It was brilliant though. Just heartwrenching. The atmosphere is so wonderfully constructed.

Author Reply: Thanks, Cerencae .... the next chapter is up. Hold on to your hat!

Oh, I will also say that I've figured out the barrel markings but I'll keep it to myself so as to not to spoil it for anyone else. Glad you are back, Rouret.

Author Reply: At last, someone who took note of the barrel-marks! Now, have you picked up on the nightingale yet?

I can't even begin to tell you how I feel about what I just read. Oh my god. That's not to say it's not excellent -- it is -- just so very disturbing. Bloodcurdling, even. Poor Durfinwen, Belias and Melima. Poor Tamin.

Author Reply: What I find even more disturbing is that I wrote it. My muse must be getting back at me for having to leave tequila and pool-boy in Cabo.

Thanks for the review.

I'm heartsick over this chapter. Please, please don't leave us here for too long! Poor Durfinwen. Hers might be the hardest to bear. What torment these poor Elves have suffered. Make them pay, Legolas and Gimli! Make them pay!

Author Reply: If there is nothing else consistent in my stories, it is that justice prevails. Don't worry! Things always look darkest before the dawn.

Thanks for the review, whoever you are!

Oh my - this mystery thickens. Poor Belias and Melima and now Durfinwen. Please update soon!

Author Reply: Have done ... I'd say "enjoy," but that would imply a state of mind that needs pills and straitjackets. Thanks for the review!

Mahal!...I'm speechless, this is so creepy, scary. I wanted Durfinwen to de alive, but I wasn't expecting this.. Did you write this after Halloween? I read this chapter last night and I was so impressed that couldn't review. It remind me a book that I read many years ago, some stories by Lovecraft (not sure if the name is right) that scaried me so bad, that I couldn’t read that kind of literature for years. Anyway, you are a great writer, I don't know how to describe how good you are, and those three elves are still hunting me! But even if I'm terrified, I can't wait for more...

I was wondering if Galas & Faramir won't show up. I remember in one of your stories that Galas knew that something was wrong in Rohan when the wife of one of Legolas’ warriors had collapsed because her husband has died or they thought (which was right). Then, if Kaimelas died (I hate your muse, you know) his wife should had sense something (BTW, I want to know what happen to him)

About the barrel, it make me to remember something that I read about the classic fairy tales that we know now, that they are adaptations of stories from the Dark Age, when the villain was punished with very evil, creative and bloody ways, such as the barrel with nails, wearing hot iron shoes, etc...

And I'm very bloodthirsty too, someone needs to die and bad...I'm trying to think who the Master is, a Nazgul maybe?

Last, I'm with your beta, mad with you and asking for a happy end, I just wanted Legolas fall in love with Durfinwen...

Please, update soon and can't wait.

Thanks, Fantasia

Author Reply: Thanks, Fantasia! I'm glad you're enjoying the fic. It's certainly not the easiest thing I've ever written. Halloween was tame by comparison.

Keep speculating ... I've got it all tied up, I promise!

Oh! This is appalling!

(If I say "in a good way" will you know what I mean?)

Author Reply: Yes, I will! Thanks for the review. I know it's appalling ... but at least I have an ending in mind!

Very, very bad place to stop!

Oh, what a dark, bleak chapter. Wonderfully written, but so dark! All I can do is echo Legolas and Gimli's sentiments and hope that whoever did such terrible things meets with a very terrible end indeed.

Author Reply: The worse the crime, the worse the punishment ... trust me.
