I really enjoyed this portrayal of Indis. I tend to like her. I wish Fëanáro could have loved her. It is sad that he had to go without a mother's love for most of his life. Indis seems here like someone who would have willingly gave it to him if could have accepted it. But of course, as he know, he could or would not. What happened to this family was tragic and that something so ordinary and simple was what she yearned for the most and never came to be. Thanks alot, Melkor! :( This was nicely written and enjoyable to read!

I like this story! But I wonder, where are they with the dusty bricks, huddled under a bearskin rug? Author Reply: I'm glad you enjoyed this! They are in the same palce where the wish takes place, but the dusty bricks and the cold are what they have now instead of the idealistic setting they should have had if the issues with Feanor hadn't arisen. Thanks for reading and reviewing! Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier. Thinsg have been crazy lately.

Oh wow, Ellie. This is just... I'm speechless. I had a feeling while reading the earlier part, and then to such a sad conclusion. Very nicely done, if full of sorrow. Author Reply: Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it! There is very little out there written from Indis' perspective. When I saw this title as an option in the challenge at JFA, it begged me to tell the tale of what Indis would have wished for. Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Poor Indis. I feel for all those who were left behind to try to piece together a life in a Blessed Realm full of might-have-beens. Earwen at least got to keep her husband - and was, eventually, reunited with her all-but-broken granddaughter - but I'll bet that was little consolation for the loss of this simple vision of what the future should have held. Wretched Silmarils. Foolish, pig-headed, arrogant Feanor. Author Reply: I sooo agree with you on Feanor. It is amazing just how far-reaching were the effects of the marring of Arda. I have to wonder how much healing truly did come to those left behind. Thanks so very much for reading and reviewing!

It's sad that Indis's wish never came to be... You've captured Indis's personality perfectly. She only wanted a happy family though it was she who caused the final stone that set Finwe's house on the road to strife. Readers don't give her enough credit. They have to pity Feanor. Thanks for writing and I apologize about the rambling within the review. Author Reply: Many people do blame Indis and they portray her as cold, distant, spoiled, and/or snooty. I don't see her that way. I think she was a gentle spirit caught in a difficult situation, but she was there completely out of love. I personally blame Morgoth above all for the tainting of Arda, but after him I blame Finwe. There is much he could have done about the whole situation in his family, but time and again, he chose not to. Indis and her children never stood a chance when it came to Finwe choosing between them and Feanor - even when Miriel's son publicly threatened to kill Indis' son. It all must have been so very hard for Indis and it probably would remain hard for her to always be second to Finwe's first family. If you want to discuss this topic further, please e-mail me. I'd love to hear more of your perspective on it. Thank you so very much for reading and reviewing!

Oh, Ellie, this was so sad--a sort of waking dream about what could have and should have been. Thank you. Alassiel Author Reply: It is sad. Elves dwell much in memory, but I wonder how much they might dwell in fantasy about the might have beens as well. I'm glad you enjoyed this. Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Awww, *sniff, blow into a tissue* her wish is so beautiful. Could it be possible that things could turn out similar after everyone is judged, cleansed and rehoused? Only the end time will tell. Author Reply: I don't think that things can ever be what she wished for even after everyone is rehoused because Finwe would most likely choose Miriel over Indis. And even if he didn't Miriel would be ever present with Finwe's family. One could hope though. Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Yes, that would be what I would have wished for as well, given the chance. It's too bad it didn't happen that way. Author Reply: It is too bad, really. It would have been wondrous. Thanks so very much for reading and reviewing!
