Poor Elrond, being without his family on Midwinter. But at least they do come home and mend his broken heart a little bit.

Oh my! With one word, you convey healing. Home... blessed chapter. I loved that the race was what gave them away. Such fun!

A lovely sequel. I'm glad Elrond got his wish, his sons returned to him.
You are always able to capture the characters so well in such 'simple' prescriptions of them.

Author Reply: Originally I had Elrond stating his wish - but I decided it was more effective left unsaid. We all know what he wished for anyway, and of course it came true! Thank you for your comment about the characters - I find the twins easy to write as I feel I know them so well now.

Ah, Jay, this is such a satisfying resolution! Yes, the details of racing and bickering means they are back home in spirit as well as body. Well done!

P.S. so, you have the same problem as I do with Glorfindel elbowing his way in, huh? LOL!

Author Reply: Thank you - yes, the twins are back in more ways than one, finally coming out of the haze of grief and rage and seeing there is more to life.

*Sigh* Glorfindel is quite ... dynamic, isn't he?

Ah, so wonderful to see the first steps of healing taking the two of them! Wonderful! And so clearly brothers.

Author Reply: Yes - they'll never stop hunting orcs (after all, they were still at it in LOTR) - but they're realising there is more to life than just revenge. And they're still together :)

Oh, I am so glad you wrote the homecoming of the twins! This is lovely. Thank you.

Author Reply: Thanks! Elrond and the twins have all passed a lonely Midwinter apart, but I had to show their eventual return to home and family. I'm glad you liked it!

On occasions like this Midwinter Elrond had to feel even more lonely than usual, watching all the families around and being so alone himself. You convey that very well, and that even Glorfindel's support doesn't truly help.

After this touching, but a bit depressing beginning the other half of the story was even more poignant - Elrond's vague hope and doubts while watching the newcomers, his joy at seeing them race each other the last bit of the way, realising they're finally able to experience joy again after the long, vengeance-driven time when they were barely at home. Glad you finished this in this happy way; it truly leaves one with the feeling there is hope for better times.

Wonderful done, Jay!

Author Reply: Thank you! I wanted to emphasise Elrond's melancholy and loneliness at Midwinter, and make a deliberate contrast in mood between the two parts. The twins are home - and his sons are back, as well.

Exquisite! what a wonderful heart-warming ending. I think they all got their wishes there in the end.

Author Reply: Yes, I wanted a happy ending and homecoming :) The first part of this originally ended with Elrond saying his wish, but I decided it was more effective to leave it unspoken. Thanks for the review!

Very moving, Jay. I loved the moment when the two riders break into a gallop. You convey so much by that willingness to play.

Author Reply: Thanks, Daw - yes, that moment was so important to Elrond and to the twins. His sons are back.

This is so beautiful and touching. Once again an amazing piece of work, Jay! I love seeing how the twins race each other to Elrond's side. :) It's good to see the twins finally returning home - in more than one way!! The moment between Elrond and Glorfindel is very beautiful, too.

You're such an awesome writer. More please! LOL!

Esteliel

Author Reply: That moment when they race each other means a lot to Elrond. They're eager to reach home, and the fun-loving sons they used to be are emerging again. Yes, the twins are back in more ways than one.

I'm finding Glorfindel is sneaking into more and more stories recently!
