While on the Quest  by Grey Wonderer 6 Review(s)
GoldenReviewed Chapter: 4 on 2/23/2008
I have read the story before at the Challenges. It always makes me laughing out loud. Its a fantastic story and so lifly written.

*snert* Oh Pip! This was hilarious - I laughed myself silly.

I have often wondered about this scene and what sort of conversation went on between them while Tom was away, and now I know!

*giggles* The flag of the Tooklands indeed.

Author Reply: Yes, this was *exactly* what they must have talked about! This is why the Tom Bombadil scenes were cut from Jackson's films. He didn't want an adult rating. hehehe

Thanks for reviewing and I'm glad to hear you giggling.

**Howls with laughter**

Thanks for this read on a Monday morning!

Author Reply: You are most welcome! Glad you got a laugh out of it. I blame Tolkien for undressing the hobbits to begin with. (Always blame someone if you can.) Thanks for reviewing!

This is wonderful! You had me laughing out loud.

Author Reply: Glad you enjoyed it. It's an odd look at the Quest but it is revealing. hehehe

You KNOW how much I love this one. So very glad it's now part of the archive here! Heh! Wonderful, GW.

Author Reply: I sent it over and let the mod on the site approve it before posting it here. she didn't find it objectionable as far as 'too risky to post' and gave it the ok so here it is. I claim this one as one of my few "On the Quest" fictions until recently and so I did think it belonged with the others. Thanks for reviewing it again.

"I had best try to lower the flag of the Tooklands before Tom returns," Pippin stood and keeping his back to all of them, walked awkwardly off towards the field.

Well, I think your "symbolic flag" is very funny!

Why did Frodo ask about the castor oil, I wonder. Only for Pippin's sake? He's not *that* old. Unfortunately, Tom Bombadil arrived - too early, if you ask me ;-)

Thank you, G.W., for this funny little story (and there was no sheep in it)!

Author Reply: So glad you enjoyed it. As to what Frodo might have wanted to do with the castor oil, one can only imagine. He may have wanted it for Pip and then he may also have wanted to know if Sam had ever used it before for this sort of thing. hehehe I had to let Tom come back at some point, didn't I? : )

No sheep but maybe if I try really hard I can work sheep into the Quest fictions somewhere. You know if I can, I will.
