A Cat in King Elessar's Court  by Agape4Gondor 11 Review(s)

Hmmm . . . why is the thought of a king so horrible?

I can sympathize with Alqua's confusion, it can all be confusing for people who have followed the story from the beginning, let alone coming in in the middle, so-to-speak.

I'm so glad Strider, Pippin and yes, Gandalf can hear Alqua speak :-)

Author Reply: Well - you are correct - the story is definitely complex... I'm hoping mine isn't quite as bad :-)

As for the king - ah, kin-strife was ever on the lords of Gondor's minds... the cat also felt it and worried....

A true heir - that is the dilemma when the line that the Stewards trusted and served was known to be heir-less.

Blessings....

All that tossing and turning. It’s a wonder he didn’t wake Faramir up. I’m curious to see what will happen when he meets Aragorn. That should be most interesting.

I like the idea of a friendship between Alqua and Pippin. I wonder how Merry will react to Pippin knowing a talking cat. I hope he doesn’t find out too soon. It would be quite a shock and I don’t think he’s strong enough for that as yet.

I so love reading your stories. You have such a creative mind.

Tari

Author Reply: Well, Tari, if you've ever had a cat, they can move gently, even whilst tossing and turning. However, they do so love to step on your chest. I think there is an evil streak in them. As little as they look, they can be quite heavy! :-)

Bless you for your kind words.

I seem to be a cat person for I had exactly
Alqualonde's feelings when reading this chapter...

Oh, what a wonderful story this is!

Author Reply: Aw! The Cat offers his sympathy... and welcomes you to the family... and thinks the suffering might be worth your enjoyment!

The scribe thanks you for your review!

I've always imagined Boromir as a dog person too.Poor cat, I hope he will come to know and love Aragorn and learn some kings can be good.

Author Reply: I have watched cats having a great time teasing dogs. I'm sure Boromir was probably 'put out' by such behavior. But that only built friendship. *sobs*

We'll see how he and Aragorn get along... I thought this would be over soon, and it will, but longer than I had thought. There's another battle to be won...

Well, the return of Thorongil to Gondor does change things mightily, of course! Alqua wull understand eventually, and realize Faramir is delighted.

Author Reply: The Cat 'knows' that Thorongil is Elendil's heir presumptive. *shivers* Does he just let the man walk in and take over Gondor? Is this what Denethor would have wanted? He still is the dead man's friend... he'll want what Denethor wanted, I think.

Perhaps Faramir will be able to help him accept the king. So many questions.

Thanks for the review!

Oh, this made me laugh out loud! Pippin rambling on as if everyone might know everyone that he knows. That was so very Pippin! I do think that poor Alqualondë was very patient with it all. Alqualondë has been through so much that needs sorting out and now has the extra task of sorting out what Pippin is saying.

I wonder if the fact that the King has come will be the final upset for Alqualondë or if it will turn out to be welcome news? More conflicting information to process. I think Pippin is right about one thing, Alqualondë could use a nap.

Author Reply: Pippin is certainly a trip when he feels comfortable. *giggles* What am I saying? He's a trip no matter what!

The bond growing between the two is such that, even disconcerted, the Cat will give the Hobbit his due.

For a moment, he rests. Thankfully.

Of course the *hugs* are for the Scribe! The cat was being hugged and comforted by a Hobbit no less! Now, smile! :D Hugs, again, Neilia

Author Reply: Whooo hooo! *scribe does happy dance*

Thank you!!!!!! Hugs right back!

LOL, at first I thought it was Aragorn giggling and almost choked on my dinner. Pippin and Alqualonde are getting on quite nicely. Even if it was a bit too much to hear about Boromir. Poor kitty. He's been through a lot.

Author Reply: Oh my goodness! Sorry - hope you have recovered. And an honest mistake. I probaly should have qualified that... but I just don't see Aragorn as a 'giggler' - ROTFL.....

And yes - Pip and Alqua are getting along fine... but they are both going to be in big trouble soon.... good grief.

The Cat thanks you for your kind concern. He bids you rest assured he's recovering, in his own way.

Poor kitty! Yet another shock. Poor weary little soul. *sigh* I hope he finds the King's healing hands on him once again and a better understanding of the world's happenings around him. He is a prime example of the loyalty and love of a cat. They adopt their people for life. Hugs, Neilia

Author Reply: Oh my, Neilia! You are so right. Poor weary little soul....

Thank you for the hug - I hope it was for the scribe, but it was probably for the Cat - he gets all the hugs................. :-(

DreamflowerReviewed Chapter: 20 on 5/8/2008
*grin* I love the way Alqualonde knows some things--like what "the hands of a healer" means, and doesn't know others, such as what "athelas" is. It makes it seem far more realistic.

I look forward to the meeting between Merry and the cat. And I also look forward to the future meeting of a King and the cat...

I hope Alqualonde will help keep poor Merry company while Pippin's gone. They can miss him together...

Author Reply: Don't let the Cat know you think he doesn't know everything - or else there will be no peace.... let's just pretend he's omniscient.

Ah Merry and the Cat... and the King and the Cat...

Psst - the Cat would like to remind you that Cat is capitalized.....
