The Harpist's Redemption  by Coreinha 36 Review(s)
FimbrethilReviewed Chapter: 14 on 6/22/2025
Oh Sting! Now that would be a good gift too.
At least Elrond and Glorfindel escaped, but dragons and balrogs! Celeborn and Thranduil are no more…
Oh, and now Sauron and the Nazgûl are unleashed…you would think he wouldn’t trust Sauron anymore but…
Where ARE the Dwarves? And how fares Middle Earth? Does Gondor and Arnor still exist? Does an Heir of Ëarendil still sit on the throne of the Reunited Kingdom? …Which they probably wouldn’t call as such, being reunited for 8000 years…

What happens next, please??!!

Oh man: As I once followed Frodo into the wastes of Mordor, so must you go with Elrohir to battle Morgoth. You must make certain he has the courage and will to continue onward. The jewel is the key. Don't forget that, Legolas. Oh, and take this!"
The phial of Galadriel?

"My son, the time has come to right the wrongs I led you to do. I have faith that you will be the one to redeem the House of Feanor. Know that I am with you, even if you cannot see me; leave behind the mantle of the Kinslayer and become the Harpist once again." Ah. Well I guessed that already.

The Heir of Luthien is either Elrohir or Legolas, isn’t it? Or is it Elros? Arwen did mention him, I think. I think it is Elros now.

Elrohir blinked once, then recovered himself and bowed as Elven protocol required when meeting a foreign dignitary, though there was probably no social protocol for meeting a foreign dignitary that had been dead for tens of thousands of years. "I am honored, my lord. If you don't mind me asking, how have I come to be in your presence?"
Ah…nor for one who is your uncle. Elros! I have not read a scene like this before!

Elros' smile broadened to a grin as he stepped off the throne and clapped his nephew on the shoulder. "I think you know that this is a dream, Elrohir. You always were an intelligent lad. I come with a message...well, several messages, actually." humourous.
Elrohir swallowed and nodded once, both eager and terrified to hear what his long-dead uncle would have to say.
Fear not. Remember to trust in your own strength, and remember that you are descended from the only beings ever to do harm to the dark lord. Take heart and use that heritage to your advantage!"
Oh boy, I suppose he is right. i.e. Finrod and Gil-galad.?

This is a really long one, but I have started writing commentary now. Sorry!

It will only be a little while longer now; already her uncle Elros, known as Tar-Minyature* to those who study ancient mortal history, has guided Maglor to Elrohir and Legolas.
Maglor holds the key.
Oh?

*It is actually spelled Minyatur.

Oh! Gimli left Galadriel’s hair in the phial on the shore! And Maglor found it! Surely he knows what it is! What does he think!

…Where they can commandeer an appropriate vessel, eh? At least Elrohir is the one who didn’t get seasick.

Ohhh I see. About X. Good thing she basically failed. ….After reading all this chaper: this time she didn’t.

About losing his wife and children…his father AND his grandfather did, for a time, so he should know something about it.

“The foursome spent the day wandering around the city. The Elves found themselves entirely overwhelmed by the sheer size of the city. Elrohir summed it up nicely when he exclaimed 'it's as big as the entire land of Rohan!' when they arrived in Manhattan that morning.” Funny.
Ah! I think it might be smaller? Maybe the island is the size of Rohan? Oh, I looked it up, Rohan is about 53,000 sq. mi. and NYC is only a bit more than 300 sq. mi.
So Rohan is slightly larger than England, or similar in size to Honduras or Cuba.

Oh dear, Legolas!

“He was facedown in the water and not moving. Elrohir dropped the katana and dove in after his friend. He reached Legolas quickly, his strong arms propelling him through the water reminded him of all the times Elrond had told the twins they were more like fish than elflings.
As he wrapped his arms around his unconscious friend, he wondered why on earth these bizarre things popped into his head at such critical moments”
heh

Oh Valar, no! Elladan!"
Elrohir forgot about Legolas entirely as he ran to his brother's inert form. Time seemed to slow, as he ran those few yards. His heart was pounding in his ears like a drum, drowning out all other sounds.
Oh dear! Who will survive???

Oh No! And Melkor killed Ëarendil and took the Silmaril! At least Elrohir knows the star is gone…

So Maglor is going to redeem himself, is he? Save his foster son?

“I have a job for her.”? Maybe from him.

Glad Thranduil knows/trusts the boys are alive.

I think the line they haven’t solved yet is Elladan’s wife and unborn child shall sacrifice themselves, yes?

(whichever of the twins it was, I don’t remember.)

Oh my….what is Morgoth doing to them? If only Galadriel were here….or Finrod.

NM, that would probably actually be worse.

Ok, so somebody has probably mentioned this, but right off the bat:

For the love of Legolas and the admiration of Galadriel, Gimli was granted leave to sail with Legolas to Valinor, so he could very well be there.

…NM all that, if you are assuming he died in Valinor before this.

And I think Cell-hu might be Gandalf.

Luthien!

Wow, this is a cliffhanger!

The Nine are about, and the Elven kings are digging for the Silmaril in the land…will He somehow get the others?

FimbrethilReviewed Chapter: 5 on 6/22/2025
Iceland! I hope they find Elladan!
I am fairly sure Maglor was in that riddle? or at least mention of the seven sons of Feanor.
Things are getting interesting.

Sorry this isn’t much more of a review.

Somewhere in the first paragraphs I realized this would be a non-peaceful Three Men in a Boat, to say Nothing of the Dog…

So Arwen is protecting the children and the others?

Also it is strange that Elladan is seasick, considering his uncle, grandfather, and at least one of his parents’ love of water. I guess it is different enough in a storm. But, he has have to sailed to Valinor somehow!

“Elladan grunted… then sighed once again, thinking that his children were going to pay him back for everything he and his own twin had ever done.”

“Elrohir grinned, it would be good to see them, even better to see his niece and nephew torment his brother”

(Legolas:) “Eru help me if she is having twins, I have seen the trouble Elladan's pair gives him!”

My favorite parts. And I see the twins in the line of Finwe continue. (And maybe even Legolas gets some!)
