The Autumn of His Discontent  by jodancingtree 19 Review(s)

Okay. This will probably never be finished, and that makes me sad. It's a really intriguing gap-filler! Unfortunately, we will never see the ending. :')

Too bad I read it years late!

Ah, Jo, I didn't look back through the reviews to see if I'd left you a good word on this chapter, because if I did it was so long ago I don't remember anymore.

This was a fun way to start the day.

Frodo certainly *does* give lively parties!

I love Fatty and his comment about food, drink, and entertainment. LOL!

And Folco, casting back in his memory... reminds me of another scene I've read somewhere, with one character concentrating, trying to remember, and at least one other character trying to stop the process. It's so vague in my mind, all I remember is that much, and the name triumphantly popping out to somebody's consternation...

*hug* Hope this finds you well.

“Oh-ho, Cousin Frodo! Better not be scolding me, had you? Glori taught me kissing and that’s as far as it went – what have you been up to, eh, to make you so edgy about the lass’s name?”

LOL!!! What did Gandalf say? "There's more to this hobbit than meets the eye!"
More indeed ;-)

I'm looking forward to reading more!

Oh good grief - I was laughing out loud at this one - twice! Once with Pip and the kissing and with Frodo and the flowerbeds. Such fun!

Author Reply: And I laughed for joy that you had such fun with this chapter - and then hung my head for shame to be so slow in responding to your nice review! i'm sorry...

Oh my! What an incredibly interesting beginning! Sounds like a very nice adventure - though I'm with Sam on Frodo returning alone. I can almost smell disaster in the air with Pip as his only companion from Buckland... Yikes!

Our Frodo said THAT? Hehehehehe! He may be restless, but he does know how to have a good deal of fun in spite of it all. And dear, responsible Sam, forgiving him for the squashed mums.

Now, how will the walkabout go, I wonder? Heh!

“Mr. Frodo? What’s going on here? You’re in the flowerbeds, Mr. Frodo; you’re squashing them flat, all them mums, begging your pardon, sir –“

Poor dear Sam. He doesn't know what to be more concerned about, his master or his well-tended flowerbeds!

Oh, this is going to be lovely! I haven't read anything of yours in such a long time. I'm looking forward to more.

Author Reply: It's been so long since I've written anything - thank you for such a heartwarming welcome back!

It's wonderful to see something new from you. I believed in Frodo's restlessness, and it makes sense that he needs to get away from home for a while. But it's worrisome that he's going on his own. Makes me wonder if he's going to get into difficulties. I'm looking forward to the next chapter.

Author Reply: Of course Frodo sees himself as the responsible adult of the excursion - and it's only a little walk through the Shire, how much trouble could he get into -
