That was so frightening, beautiful and the last part took my breath away.

“Boromir said nothing, but he drew in a ragged breath and briefly placed his warm hand on the back of Sam’s curly head. It was almost a caress.“

This makes me dream … which isn’t that bad at daytime.
Thakn you, my dear! *snuggles closer*

So lovely and beautiful written, dear. I just discovered this story at dinner break and I love it to pieces.
But … you can’t stop here, you left me with a cliffhanger … so I’ll jump as soon as possible to chapter 2.
Thank you so very much, sweetie! Perfect job! *hugs tight*

After reviewing a newer one of yours today, I found your author list and read this one. Even though this is old, i thought I would still let you know how good it was. the description of the frozen pond is beautifully detailed. I could see it in my mind's eye, and I felt cold just reading about it! And I enjoyed watching your characters interact. They are just as I imagine they would be early on the journey, as everyone got to know each other. As another reviewer said, Boromir's determined vow becomes an echo of his later sacrifice for merry and pippin. Beautifully done.

I just read this story after it was recommended by Lindelea over on Marigold's site. I don't know how I missed it before, but it was excellent. Just enough humor to make things interesting, and very well written. Thank you.

Oh, this is a wonderful story, too! I love your Boromir!

This is absolutely wonderful! I love Fellowship stories--and I especially love Boromir and hobbit stories--how sweet and beautiful! The gestures of gratitude at the end, when Boromir was expecting to be chastised were so touching. I'm so glad I found this on Marigold's Recs, and that Lindelea recced it!

I always like stories that focus on Boromir's interaction wiht the hobbits, and this little interlude is beautifully told as a precursor to his sacrifice later on. I love Gandalf's response to the loss of the water bottle - perfect characterisation.

That's it????!? I know how the story goes, but thos was so new and and sweet and I really didn't want it end. Maybe you can come up with a couple more chapters? *Gives pleading puppy dog eyes*

Author Reply: Ah, you're so sweet to want it to go on, but I'm afraid that's it. I knew the moment I got the notion for it that the story would only have three parts: Build-up, crisis, conclusion. Sometimes the hardest part of writing a story is when you know you have to stop writing! I didn't want it to end either, but I had said all that I wanted to say with it, and that seemed a logical place to bring it to a close. But may I suggest (if you haven't done this already,) that you look up the writers Shirebound and Baylor at Fanfiction.net? They write stories of this sort a whole lot better than me, and together they should provide you enough hobbity action/adventure to keep you reading happily for days and days to come. Thanks for the review:)

That was a really sweet story, I love Boromir and he was brilliant in this. At the end it was a lovely echo of how he dies for Merry and Pippin.
