Fatty's courage come at last. And good it is to see it happen.

This story is marvelous! I just stumbled on it tonight, and I had to stay up late to finish it. I love the relationship between Esme and Pippin, and the scene in which Esme witnesses Pippin's brush with death at the Black Gate is heart-wrenching and powerful--especially when coupled with Saradoc's reactions! This story has inspired many doodles of green-eyed Tooks across the papers at my desk. If I ever manage to get them to a scanner, I'll have to send you some fan art--probably better than any mangy old review. Keep it rockin'! --Beth

Way to go Freddy! I hope his father isn't dead, but I do understand Freddy's reasoning. And I dearly love this part!

("I stayed behind once before, I stayed behind and . . ." He sat a bit straighter, taking in a good deep breath as he did. "This time I’ll not stay behind and wait for what may come. This time I move to help us, help all of us hobbits, as much as I can, anyway I can." He looked his cousin squarely in the eye. "You can go or you can stay.")

Can't wait for more of this one. I am enjoying it very much!

Blessed Pearl!! You're taking us through Fredegar's experiences, too! Fantastic! :-) Here again you display your talent for drawing the reader in to the emotions of your characters--I know I always am. ;-) I can smell more trouble on the horizon for the Shire...

Most excellent chapter, Pearl!! Thanks for sharing. :-)

"I stayed behind once before..."

O Freddy, good for you! Very nice take on his becoming a rebel leader, and good thinking and decision-making on his part. Truly, he'd be more use to his father and the hobbits of Bridgefields following the wagon than hovering outside his father's door.

VWD, Pearl, and as always I'll be very glad to see more of this one.
