Galadriel had warned Frodo and Sam that the Mirror could show past, future, and some things that might never happen unless the viewer were to seek to turn aside to halt them. One cannot be completely certain about visions. But they did well to act in accordance with this one, obviously. Interesting to see the gift of foresight manifest itself at last! Author Reply: Yes, learning when to act on the visions is something Eldarion will have to learn over time. I'm sure over the years he'll find times when the visions will be misleading, or when the events are unavoidable, but at least for this first vision, it helped them avoid a disaster. It would be interesting to see what other abilities might manifest along the way, I think.

Author Reply: Life is getting hectic right now, and I haven't had much time for writing, but I am working on the next chapter. Just don't expect it to be posted too quickly. This was a really good story, are you planning on continuing it? I think you should. Thanks for writing lol Author Reply: Actually, this was a one-shot story, and the extended version of a 1000 word challenge story, so it won't be continued. I'm really glad you enjoyed it, though. I'm working on a couple of other things at the moment, so I think my energies will go into finishing those up. Thanks for letting me know you liked this story.

Misty, I couldn't resist and ended up rereading it today. I really liked the first version of it, and liked this one much better. It's more fleshed out and polished, and therefore more believable. And as I said on my first review, I really liked the way had Aragorn handling the situation. Author Reply: Thanks. I had a hard time with the word limit (as I usually do) and didn't get to put in as much as I would have liked. Doing the EE version allowed me to finish the conversation and cover more of the questions that I think Eldarion would have asked. Thanks for encouraging me to continue with creating the longer version.

I like this, Misty. Eldarion certainly has a wonderfully mixed and unique heritage, and it's interesting to think that his parents would be watching and waiting for any Gifts to manifest. It's nice to see father and son having an outing together, also. Author Reply: Thanks. It is an interesting exercise, trying to figure out what gifts of his mixed heritage Eldarion would inherit. This seemed one of the most natural, but there are likely many more possibilities, and I'm sure his parents watched quite closely so they could help him figure out anything that developed. And yes, I always enjoy writing family moments and it was nice to see the two of them out of the palace and enjoying time together.

I really like Eldarion inheriting this particular part of his Elven ancestry! And as Galadriel warned, the visions can't always be used as a guide to deeds - but in this case, it saved them. I particularly like this because I've written Elladan as having the same skill, and frustrated over the vagueness of the visions. Jay Author Reply: Exactly, Galadriel and Aragorn have learned along the way that the visions don't always dictate a course of actions. Knowing when to alter his actions based on a vision is something Eldarion will also have to learn for himself, but he has his parents there to help him figure it out. I can imagine that it would be quite frustrating for those with this particular gift. Thanks for the review.

This is great Misty. I would imagine that the gift of foresight was very much a mixed blessing for a warrior or Ranger. Images that intense and vivid might prove to be disabling at a difficult time. Good for father/son bonding though. Author Reply: You're right... a vision like this at an un-opportune time could be quite dangerous. I do hope they didn't bother those with the gift in the middle of a battle or anything. I did enjoy writing this father-son moment, though. I always like writing stories about family.
